A lot of that strategy depends on where your priorities lie. If your objective is solely to have the highest end of year score then you may be more inclined not to start one or both of them. MAYBE.doedee and young could both be in similar situations - miss rd 1 but be imminent.

could be a ballsy move that makes or breaks you early and id be very tempted to doit at this point.
I certainly agree with you on doedee, esp if he even gets a sanfl trial in or is named to play any level rd 1 weekend
However, if your priority is to win your cash league (which is worth far more than I'm likely to win from Sportsdeck) what happens in rounds 1 & 2 is really irrelevant.
If there is a player you really want in your squad and are confident he will be playing by round 2 or 3, I don't see any point in not starting them. This mindset applies particularly to rookie valued players.
