Probably not a popular post but I'm not against chasing Atkins TBH.
Still averaged 21 disposals in 2017 in a team that played off and got 10 Brownlow votes. Averaged 21+ in 2018,2019 as well.
Had a decent finals series too at the highest standard. Still only 26 and Crows clearly rebuilding.
Won't cost us anything apart from a salary and we already give one of those to bog average players.
You can forget that a handful of Crows players went around this year. That club is a basket case at present

Atkins isn't getting a game for the worst team in the comp, let that settle in.

Shows he's not good enough, and doesn't have enough leadership to warrant trying to keep him.

Reported by Morris? He’s a joke. Just yesterday he was saying Atkins goes to Melbourne. How would he know. Possibly Atkins manager trying to extract the best contract. I prefer to believe Evans who said we will be going after high quality players starting this offseason.

Surely you guys aren’t going to give ratkins a 4-5 year deal. I think it’d make a lot more sense to try and get someone like laird who is an elite ball user on the outside.

Laird is an elite ball user when he’s used as that attacking half back in a good side. He is a 2x all Australian... and it’s not because of his defensive efforts.

We are talking about the performance of someone in probably the best team that year and who stood up in the biggest games. Not sure where the comparison fits in with Aaron Hall.
And I have no doubt we are targeting top quality as well

Don't know id he stood up in big games
Not sure how valid AFL player ratings are (the official AFL stat) provided by champion data
But his preliminary and grand final were both in the bottom 4 games he played in 2017

If you check when he had his best performing games, it was when they were beating teams by 80+ points.

Definitely a player that can be damaging when the heat is out of the game. Unfortunately the way we play the heat is always on.

Rather go after a Brody Mihocek - 27 yo, never had a decent contract and the Pies would have a fair salary cap squeeze. This will be his last opportunity to make any real money from football.

Complement King nicely as the smaller, ready made, mobile key forward.

If we are going to jettison 2MP he would be a better, cheaper replacement.

He probably be on a big contract already but Luke McDonald is looking good this year. Reliable kick and just setting up attacks from the backline. Helps that we have kicked 14 behinds but I feel we need this type of general defender so Luko can push up

Will be a few bargains rolling around this year, I still think we need one more true half back flanker and maybe one more high quality mid.

Atkins on a 4 year deal on minimum chips wouldn't be the worst, but there would be better options out there. I suppose the benefit with Atkins is he would be free.

Another Richmond player that the Suns should really be asking the question and use the Brandon Ellis friend thing is Jayden Short . I would hate to lose him and he is our Houli replacement but is out of contract and would fit in perfectly off your half back line.

Well you guys now have a good Richmond connection there and Short/Broad/Ellis all played in the same part of the ground and would all know each others well. Out of contract and I dont think impossible to move as we would also be tight in the cap

Naish is more wing hff , Egg-smith and stack would most likely be replacements

What’s your summary of Atkins attributes and deficiencies?

I’d say
Is a neat kick and can find space
But is an exclusive outside player who doesn’t do much defensive running and doesn’t kick many goals for an attacking winger
