Whatever happens with witherdon is that it clearly hasn’t affected Rayner to sign on which is what some bloke said it would do . Genuinely think witherdon is overrated . If soft , lacks speed and his kicking is questionable . Whilst he may go to west coast and thrive I don’t feel his absence is going to make any difference to us in next few years . Guys like bailey can go back and provide drive from half back and if we get cockatoo and get him firing he provides plenty. What I will dispute of the trade is us giving him away for a pick in 60s and paying salary that can’t be true surely . Maybe that’s what we have got all these 3rds? Can west coast give us a future 1st rounder next what and we give a 3rd rounder back with us paying a portion of salary or is that unthinkable ? Surely don and noble not gonna give away for nothing .

Even if we were clearing cap or worried about list sizes surely we can get a future 2nd or 3rd atleast and that won't affect anything for next season. Noble definitely won't be taking pick 60 for a contracted 22 year old who's proven he can play at AFL level

As per the original tweet it does seem like he was just throwing that out there, I doubt anyone outside of the two clubs would be privy to what the actual deal would look like at this point in time. If it is true, however, only possible explanation I can think of is that we are clearing cap space and a list spot for another player.

I think we are clearing salery for an unexpected move. That is the only motivation I see here, Alex is not a toxic player you give away. As I have said, this Treloar situation is a once in a decade chance of getting and A grade mid for peanuts (trade wise). Still reckon we will be watching very closely. Witho, Stef plus the Pies contribution is about his wage. Dunno.. just feel something is brewing.

That sort of trade generally is only done for problem players, which Alex has been anything but from all we know. So maybe there is something else coming this week?

There's no way we can fit Treloar. We got McCluggage, Bailey and Starevich coming out of contract next season. Also we are paying Daniher $800,000 a year, up from the initial $650,000 offered. The only way I see Witherden going to West Coast is a trade for Jared Cameron or Jack Redden

Definitely feels like that. We had the opportunity to keep Witho and Stef, but letting them go means a good chunk of cap is now free. It'll be an interesting few days to see how things play out.

Too let him go for pick 60 and pay part of his salary (if true), doesn't make sense. Even if we were getting Treloar, trade Witherden + 2021 2nd RD Pick for Wests Coast 1st would be a better deal for both parties to get the deal done quick in order to get Treloar. Interesting day tomorrow.

I'm happy if we mange to get Treloar and also keep both our 1st Rd Picks, but I hope we don't end up like Collingwood now in 12-24 months time. Even if Pies pay $100,000 of his salary (best case), that's 5 years worth. Then again Noble is best in the business. I'm sure he has a plan.

32 once the season gets rolling - he fell out of favour pretty sharply this year and is a constant risk of calf injuries it seems. There was some criticism of his 2 way running but chances are though he’s just cooked at AFL level. If Witherden comes to WCE, that’s it for Jetta.

FWIW, Eagles board are pretty stunned at the Pick 60 suggestion - while it does seem a deal will be done, I’d be shocked if it was for that!
