Whats the news on the Hawks taking Johnson? From what I've heard Ward was our man but no chance of being there. Seems like he will if Hawks go Johnson
This is what I'm hoping for too.

Get Ward at 9 and then trade up 17 to 13 so we can get Sinn too.

Then pick up Ward's buddy Ned Long later in the draft.

I haven't really seen anything drastically negative. Most mock drafts have had him top 5/6.
Bigfooty, PRE, OER, most have him at around 7-9, I guess this is more due to GWS showing early interest in Mac Andrew and GC to a lesser extent. Crows showing interest in Rachele so in essence pushes Hobbs back. GWS, Crows and even GC have several inside mids so I think they'll pass on him.

Some detractors mention speed but id say his breakaway speed from a contest is good, his straight line speed is ok, not fast, not slow.

Strengths
Ball-winning ability
Power
Clearances
Leadership
Vision
Tackling
Ready-made

Weaknesses
Moving the ball by foot
Speed

This vid goes for almost 5 mins, he is agile enough and his speed is fine too. It's easy to pinpoint a player's negative side but they need to also acknowledge many of his strong attributes.

For inside mids speed is a nice trait to have, but not that high on the priority list when looking for an inside mid.

The main reason is because the main focus for inside mids is to win the ball in congestion and making good decisions to clear it to the advantage of the team. In most cases the inside mid doesn't have the space or time to run due to the congestion.

If a club has plans for him the become a wing or half back flanker, then yes speed would be a concern.

Has anyone seen a comparison of this draft class against 2020 and/or 2019 from anyone that really knows the players?

Reading all the bios, they all sound like potential champions but would be interesting to see if our pick 7(9) is more like a top 10, top 15 or top 20 pick if this class was combined with another.

Dylan Grimes is 1.93m and Broad 192cms, Grimesy is a key defender, as is Biggy. Get it right The Age!

How your club stands ahead of the 2021 draft

RICHMOND

PICKS: 7, 15, 26, 27, 28, 83

KEY DEFENDERS: Noah Balta, Nathan Broad, Robbie Tarrant, Ben Miller.

SMALL/MEDIUM DEFENDERS: Nick Vlastuin, Dylan Grimes, Jayden Short, Liam Baker, Sydney Stack.

MIDFIELDERS: Dustin Martin, Dion Prestia, Shane Edwards, Shai Bolton, Trent Cotchin, Kane Lambert, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jack Graham, Marlion Pickett, Jack Ross, Thomson Dow, Riley Collier-Dawkins, Will Martyn, Hugo Ralphsmith, Matthew Parker.

KEY FORWARDS: Tom Lynch, Jack Riewoldt, Bigoa Nyuon.

SMALL/MEDIUM FORWARDS: Jason Castagna, Daniel Rioli, Jake Aarts, Maurice Rioli, Josh Caddy.

RUCKS: Toby Nankervis, Ivan Soldo, Samson Ryan.

With five selections inside the top 30, Richmond have an excellent chance to replenish their list soon after a golden era that yielded three premierships.

The prized pick seven could be used on a strong midfielder such as Josh Ward, Ben Hobbs or Neil Erasmus or an intercept marking defender such as Josh Gibcus. The Tigers would also be remiss to not consider Jye Amiss as champion forward Jack Riewoldt nears the end of his career, particularly after losing Mabior Chol and Callum Coleman-Jones in the trade period, however they will pick the best player available rather than draft for need at such a high pick. They also like Josh Rachele, but sources suspect Adelaide will take him off the table before the Tigers step up to the plate.

The second pick may slide or go up the draft depending on pick swaps and who is available, but there will be plenty of good players available at their second pick such as Darcy Wilmot, Campbell Chesser or Tyler Sonsie, with the club also well-placed to enter any discussions about pick swaps with 26, 27 and 28 in their hand.

Noah Cumberland will be re-rookied*.

Doesn't say a good one lol
Then again, our own team sheet has Shedda as our CHF most weeks, so calling Parker a mid is fair I guess.

If the rumour on the Hawks is legit, we could be a chance for Ward. Be happy with Ward then whoever is available out of Goater / Sonsie / Owens (perhaps a reach - but line his numbers - anyone seen him live?)

Twomey stated that the Giants are willing to trade pick 13 for either a future 1st or a 2nd and a future 2nd.

Definitely would do that, we trade pick 28 and a future 2nd tied to us (we also have Norths's 2nd next year). So, we still have a 1st and an early 2nd rounder next year.
For 2 x 2nds surely lots of clubs would be in on that though lol

Absolutely. Reckon they'd be after the North 2nd rounder though. Don't think 26/27/28 + our 2nd would do it alone.
