Question is when are they going to tell us. No doubt at the last minute as per

Bringing in CCJ this week is a big gamble now, especially if you have too many Rd14 bye players already and are looking to him as cover for Gawndy.

This is the issue, because it could change things for people in terms of CCJ early yes / no, if you're keen on a Bolton, does this alter the equation etc.
Reckon there's not a big chance we'll know in time.

If you apply a scaling factor going to an eight-team bye, it comes out (fairest) at Best 16.

I would prefer that rather than extra trades.
Don't think that'll be an option, though, got to recode that on the fly. Adding in a trade or two they've got on the shelf from last year.

I tend to agree on no extra trades, but I'd rather it stays best18 and just accept that I may end up playing 1 short that week than to give those who have burnt through all their allocated trades any trade relief.

I would have thought that's a relatively easy piece of code to write? And definitely has more integrity than throwing extra trades our way.

No solution is going to be totally fair and equitable.

You'd think it will happen now that it's been announced as a possibility. Hopefully confirmed sooner rather than later

CCJ to cover Grundy this week and Reeves after that is my plan at the moment

If they give us extra trades in the event of 8 teams having a bye in round 14 I'll just tank that round. I'm already struggling for 18 from 12 teams, would need an extra 4-6 trades to even try to cover it.

Will just use the extra trades to keep upgrading and take my medicine in round 14 if that happens.

Agree on the equitability front.
Code-wise thinking about it, it's actually different to last year, because last year they basically just flicked the switch to bye round scoring.
Whether best 16 or giving the possibility of >3 trades in a week, it'd be new territory, would be similar effort either way.
Edit: Or did we get like 4-5 trades in a week last year? Can't remember.
Fair point 👍

Surely its a parameter or configurable in some way, why hard code the 18. Seems lazy coding to me.

"The Eagles would have to agree to make the change as well given they have prepared for their bye to follow this week's trip to Sydney to take on Carlton at the SCG on Sunday."

Not sure if a club has any say really, but it's hard to imagine why an injury-depleted club would want to postpone their bye, and at the same time deliver an advantage to the very club that they're playing the next week!!!

Yeah, don't know, just my recollection.
Agree in general terms re script complexity.

Footy Rhino bloke on twitter making it out as if the tigers are the side that doesn't want it to change, perplexing considering the WC injuries.
