So far as I can tell, the SCG is pretty much sold out. Nothing is coming up as available at the moment.

The MCG on the other hand has a lot available. The AFL Members has the entire back third and half of the middle third of the top deck unsold. The public sections have everything except Category 1 available.

The prices for both prelim’s are quite high. Is it the same prices as in 2019? The ticket sales as of right now for the Geelong v Brisbane match is very low. Doesn’t seem to be any seats available for Level 4 Ponsford, just like last Friday night. Maybe the ‘G is expecting a mid 60’s crowd.

Geelong-Brisbane will be disappointing I think. Stupid idea having it on the Friday.

The opposite will be true at the SCG. Another bumper 40k+ crowd there.
Geelong have earned the right to have the extra day off heading into the grand final, if they win the prelim.

Does anyone know how quickly general admission mcc seats filled in the first week of finals?

Trying to decide whether to book tickets as a provisional member, or reserved seats elsewhere, if I can’t arrive before 6

SCG officially sold out, I guess we’ll find out just how many you can fit in there these days.

MCG looks like it’s a bit ahead of where the Semi Final was. They’re now offering seats in the top deck of the Ponsford, for instance. Looks like mid 60s at a bare minimum, with several days left to sell more.

Lucky to get 60 - to 70K range!

The record crowd for Geelong V Brisbane Lions in Victoria is 55,768 MCG Prelim 2004. This should be broken on Friday.

The record crowd for Sydney V Collingwood in Sydney was 72,393 Round 21 2003 at Stadium Australia.
The SCG record a month ago was 44,659 I'm guessing there will be 45k 46K on Saturday.

The EF in 2017 (Syd v Essendon) got 46,323.

Sydney v Geelong in 1997 got higher as well. 46,168.

How many were sold? Apparently there was a public allocation so it's likely some of that came from the Pies allocation.
Never saw a figure for how many were sold, just that the original allocation was 14k. But from what i saw there wasnt many public tickets either. Reckon they would have gotten close to filling it.

List of all Prelims with teams from different states ordered by crowd:

Previous Geelong prelims in Melbourne are:

2016 v Sydney - 71k
2011 v WC - 59k
2004 v Bris* - 55k

* Brisbane were the 'home' team but due to MCG contract at the time it had to be played at the G. Wouldn't have changed ticketing process at all but maybe Geelong fans weren't as enthused due to being the underdog.

Hopefully Geelong/Brisbane this year ends up cracking the 70k mark.

I think it will. If there is a decent MCC and AFL members roll up I still think it could push 80k if public sales keep tracking well. Looks like reserved seats in the MCC are virtually gone but there is still visitor tickets available. Unsure on AFL members section.

The AFL Members has got about 5 bays left in the middle section of the top deck and then all of the back section of the top deck to sell. So about 75-80% sold.
