2. Marvel "home" game against the Western Bulldogs
So, the dogs are the lucky winners of the annual Docklands home game give away. Again, what a farce. Would much rather us sell a home game to the highest bidder than continually give one away for nothing.

Double ups are Essendon, Carlton, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Based on the ‘21 ladder it looks like we’ve done ok on that front albeit none are predicted to trend downwards.

1-6: Melbourne
7-12: Essendon
13-18: Carlton, Gold Coast, Adelaide

So, the dogs are the lucky winners of the annual Docklands home game give away. Again, what a farce. Would much rather us sell a home game to the highest bidder than continually give one away for nothing.
Although we do get 5 away games at the MCG, so we can hardly scream tough draw.
14 games MCG. (9H & 5A)
3 games Marvel (2H & 1A)
5 games Interstate (5A)

Is a farce every year. Can‘t be that difficult to schedule one of the GC or GWS MCG games played there instead.

I get your point, but it’s not like the random fixture a few years ago where the saints hosted us on the G. The 5 away games are all MCG co-tenants.

I could cop it if it were a one year exception, but not annually. Ideally our Marvel home games should be against an interstate side. GC in R7 is the obvious one as it will struggle to hit 30k. The dogs at the G may get 55-60.

Yes agree, the Dogs H game should be at MCG & GC H game at Marvel.
If the AFL did end up giving us 11 Home games at the MCG, they would in turn allocate 3 away games at Marvel, reduce our MCG away games from 5 to 3, plus 5 Interstate games.
Hence end result same.
14 games MCG
3 games Marvel
5 games Interstate

They simply would not fixture as many Away games at the MCG for us.
Could you imagine the uproar if we received the following fixture:
11 H games + 5 A games at MCG = 16 games
1 A game Marvel
5 Interstate games

I've always wanted 11 home games at the MCG, which will be difficult to achieve but it's something we should continue to advocate for going forward.

At least allow the Marvel home games to be against interstate sides rather than against Marvel tenants. That's what annoys many supporters.

Works for Richmond

on side note did I read somewhere that the new board and President are going to push for no more home games at Marvel

Jeff Browne stated in his platform that he will be pushing for 11 home games at the MCG if he's elected to the board.

double ups against Carlton, ess, Melb are fairly standard, along with SCG game against syd. Can’t complain with double ups against adel and Gc. Seems we’ve been dealt with fairly based on ladder position. not expecting much, but will be an exciting year with the amount of new faces on and off the field

Fun fact: this is the first time we've had a double-up against Gold Coast. We are the last team in the league to have one.

No surprise it comes a season after they had arguably their best win for the year against us in Melb.

It's not a terrible draw. Shame about playing Melb and essendon twice.. meanwhile, Carlton only play 1 top 8 side twice - GWS .. Not sure that's how it should work lol

But Eagles, GWS, Port in melb.
Suns, Crows (1 game), freo, Lions and sydney interstate.

The old we play most of our games at the "G" is so 2010 - make no FN difference where we play and who.

The one to look at is Geelong at GMHASYHKJGLJHXKTSKHFA stadium they play, Dees, Dogs & Eagles there!!!

How many do we usually have?

When I see the fixture I look for those early MCG games against Melbourne clubs. They're the best with the bigger crowds when the interest is high. That's why it's always disappointing to see Marvel games and home matches against interstate teams early. Otherwise it's a very favorable draw. Can't believe we actually double up against Gold Coast.

Geelong play 9 games at a ground that will hold less than Victoria park next season.
Unbelievable.
