Has to lift his intensity, go back and watch Crowley, etc, won’t make it unless so.I'm not saying Banfield is no good off that game alone, I just think he's no good in general and shouldn't be anywhere near our best 22.

Yeah I wasn't excusing their performance, it 100% wasn't good enough, I just didn't agree with the analysis both on here, and by the commentators (talking about Fyfe playing forward and our mid depth) that it's now inevitable that we'd struggle against good midfields come the regular season. NN and Kelly got 13 of their 28 clearances. Kelly was the only player to get multiple centre clearances for them. Last week he simply didn't get the same amount of space to operate in. Darcy, Mundy and Serong all didn't get a single centre clearance - very unusual for just one of them not to get at least one. Think JL had a right not to be happy - I personally thought there was a lack of teamwork and the effort wasn't as good as it should be - both in the midfield and with our pressure forward of centre (contrast to the week before). Serong was held off the ball a lot and nobody stepped up to help him. The mid group needs to lift come round 1 but the upside of that yesterday is we often had to work our way through WC's team defence from deep in defence or half back - which is really valuable to practice imo.All good points, not sure I’m entirely ok with letting them off the hook with the midfield battle, it was bad considering the opposition but yes, Mundy and Darcy will be better off for the run. JL was also not too happy with the midfield battle going from the post match presser.
Yeah, biggest bonus for me was that last year, if we didnt dominate the midfield, we got belted off the park. Yesterday, we were dominated in the middle but still won comfortably really. More evidence of the better skills and gameplanYeah I wasn't excusing their performance, it 100% wasn't good enough, I just didn't agree with the analysis both on here, and by the commentators (talking about Fyfe playing forward and our mid depth) that it's now inevitable that we'd struggle against good midfields come the regular season. I'm confident that our midfield will play better than that in the season proper when there is something tangible in the line. That's regardless of Fyfe in/out, midfield/forward.Yeah, biggest bonus for me was that last year, if we didnt dominate the midfield, we got belted off the park. We have improved the skills and speed, decision making. But look at the Hawk teams as the yard stick, and they had the players to playYeah, biggest bonus for me was that last year, if we didnt dominate the midfield, we got belted off the park. I judge him on putting his body on the line when it’s his turn to go, and I didn’t think he did that. It really is a bare minimum for everyone regardless of their position.Re. Henry, you're showing a bias towards winning contests, Henry isn't in the team to win contests, he's in the team to get handed the ball on a platter for delivery inside 50. Bring in O'Driscoll and yes he'll win more contests, but he's not going to be lacing out every forward 50 entry.
Strange to be judging a players value on his weakest characteristic instead of his strengths. You don't judge a striker on his ability to slide tackle.
I thought Henry was pretty good, West Coast made sure to shut him down this week.
Nod certainly has changed my perception on him, now that he is fitter and that take down tackle a couple of weeks ago.I judge him on putting his body on the line when it’s his turn to go, and I didn’t think he did that. It really is a bare minimum for everyone regardless of their position.
A big part of the wing role is to sit on the outside but when a ground ball spills out put your head in the hole and go after it, or if someone bursts through with the ball to lay a strong tackle.
I don’t want to overstate it because I think he will get there, but he needs to stop worrying about getting hit.
For those saying Banfield plays round 1, where are you playing him and which regular best 22 players are you leaving out to fit him in?
Great team but is it a stretch to say we will see Aish Tucker and Treacy given we haven’t seen much of them so far? I personally think treacy is important to create a contest at CHFTeam for round 1
Ryan. Pearce. Logue
Young. Cox. Clark
Aish. Fyfe Tucker
Frederick Tabnerner Walters
Treacy Lobb Switkowski
Darcy. Serong Brayshaw
Mundy Chapman Brodie Schulz
Sub: Henry
Think Tucker & Aish play if both fit. Coyler unlucky.
DRAGONS FFC
Treacy is important because he's an actual forward that kicks actual goals.Great team but is it a stretch to say we will see Aish Tucker and Treacy given we haven’t seen much of them so far? I personally think treacy is important to create a contest at CHF
He is a twig. If he put his body on the line against say Nelson or anyone really of that size he will wake up in the next week. He doesn't have that size yet.I judge him on putting his body on the line when it’s his turn to go, and I didn’t think he did that. It really is a bare minimum for everyone regardless of their position.

Aker and Voss constantly changed the run of games at vital stages. Maybe as a pairing, it helped, but I would take either of them .I really want the current topic to die in this thread but I find it really hard to let this one go. Judd peak was arguably the most absurd match winning force ever to grace the field. The only argument against his greatnes was the relative short time frame of his career but to suggest he might not have been as good as Voss and Acker is absurd
Clark !!! No mention, or was he poor?Meek was the best of the three of them on the day.
Don’t agree with you on the backline. I thought Chapman and Ryan great, everyone else okay to poor.
He had a really good third quarter, and a reasonable game generally.Clark !!! No mention, or was he poor?
Don't think I've ever seen a first round team that had 4 players who hadn't played in any scratchie in it.Team for round 1

He did some good things but also some stupid things. He’s great in attack, but jeez his handballing is average. Momentum killing id nearly call it. It should be a very coachable thing to improve however. He’s got a high ceiling I thinkClark !!! No mention, or was he poor?
Lost his spot to Clark, but I’m with you, he really excites me. Maybe with Wilson being injured he’ll get a run, we look a tad slow in the backline if we don’t replace Wilson with Walker.Where is Brandon Walker? He is probably the player that excited me the most last year and he seems to have dropped off the edge of the Earth. Doesn't seem the type to put in a poor offseason.

Absolutely, perfect replacement for Wilson![]()
