FFS... in previous years now we would have another two KPP injuries in the first three rounds.

Treacy and Cox forward is very inexperienced. Opportunity for Sturt - only if he is ready. Need 5 between Cox and Treacy and 3 from Freddy. The other 8-10 goals will have to come from everyone else.

If those are accurate my freo tip starts to look shaky.

Good joke. Us kicking 16+ goals.

Josh Treacy kicks 15 goals against Adelaide in round one by himself. He also gets punched in the guts in frustration from the Adelaide defenders having no chance with the Crows offering nothing to counter the Freo outside run.

The game ends with Fyfe, Mundy, Serong and Darcy sitting on the bench laughing, all fit but resting with Longmuir standing in in front of them from the perspective of the camera.

Brayshaw still on the groud... just had his 64th possession.

Why is there still no Intel on the scratchie yesterday? Even a made up fake report on the club website with players positions moved around would be better than no news 😡

Ok Square Peg, quit your whining... Was a solid intraclub at Optus...

  • Gee Blakely has some skills. Dominant without getting out of 2nd gear. Went back out there post game and did half hour or so on set shots - curled a few beauties from behind the boundary line at the end for a bit of fun. Hardly saw him miss a kick.
  • What interested me the most was that Serong split his time between the defenders and the forwards, could be seeing a swingman role in 2022. He was his usual dominant self down back before going head-to-head with someone I couldn’t quite make out in a forward role.
  • Meek is very fast - Freddy couldn't keep up.
  • Henry is pale as buggery and still doesn't really have the body shape you'd expect of an AFL player.
  • There was a big bloke who grabbed a seat near me and I could have sworn it was Ballas, but I'm sure I was wrong...
  • Hamling kicked the last goal today and nailed it. Celebrations were huge.
  • No sign of Valente or Watson. Couldn't tell you why.
  • Schultz kicked on his left foot for 80% of the session, I reckon. Nice to see players working on their non-preferred so readily.
  • Banfield looked a class above the other midfielders bar Crowden. Just knew how to find the footy and wouldn't miss a target all session. Brayshaw was very quiet and seemed to be taking direction from Erasmus.
  • Hughes looked on and was hitting targets left and right. Set for a huge 2022.
  • Switta went up against Clark in the ruck contests and I'd say that Switta has the inside running at the moment.
  • Won't say too much about it in case I was just reading too much into it, but Fyfe looked as though he'd enjoyed the break a bit too much. A few of the coaches pulled him aside and they were having quite an animated conversation before he was taken out of the game and sent to do laps for the rest of the session.
  • Benning looked like he was doing a great job 'coaching' the younger guys. Darcy in particular seemed to be following him around.

Too cruel!😂

Blakely? That's a funny way to spell Chapman.
Of all the things in that meme, Blakely is the one you find the hardest thing to believe haha?

Not "Henry looked very pale" or "No sign of Valente or Watson" haha

Poor Connor lol

Ha. That's as far as I got before I realised it was a spoof. Pre-mature post-ulation. 😕

What is the Lobb injury? I'm sure it is legit but I have been worried he would pull a Gary Ablett

Sore chest/ribs from the preseason game.

Both the AFL site and Paul Haselby are saying the club expect him to be ok for the weekend

I think it is poor form that the club has not released any info on the intra club last weekend.

I know they are playing ducks and drakes before the start of the season but there is a small thing called the fans to consider.
I have no problem with it, just imagine if they released a report saying Cox, Meek, Sturt and Erasmus all kicked 5 goals. You’d be giving the crows our starting forward line up. Let them find out after they’ve submitted their team list.

Whats the difference if they find out 3 days beforehand or 5 days? The fans ultimately pay their wages.

Wow of all the things to get your knickers in a twist about...

Just cause you don't understand why, doesn't mean it isn't crucially important. Making your opponent think and react to tactics on gameday gives them one more thing to juggle. This is the playing field in literally every elite sport.

For a forceful example - you're playing the world chess championship, do you let your opponent know you'll be playing the Italian with White and the Sicilian with black beforehand? No, of course not, because then their study workload is a small fraction of what it would be.

AFL isn't as tactical/strategical as chess obviously, but the same logic applies across all elite sports. Never reveal your tactics or strategy until the last possible moment so that they have to react to them in real time. If Freo reveal who is and isn't playing a week out, then they're giving their opponent a full week to plan for EXACTLY what they will be facing. In the real world, AFL teams have to plan for a myriad of different scenarios that might play out.

They are asking themselves, what do we do if they swing Cox forward? How do we contain Fyfe if he plays? Do we have a match up that can go with Frederick?

Again - it might not seem like much to you, but at the top level even the slightest advantages matter, this extends to keeping opposition analysts busy with what won't happen!

That first stoppage configuration could mean a break out inside fifty and goal. If they plan to run with Serong and Fyfe but neither are in the stoppage to start, instead it's Brodie and Mundy kicking the ball to Fyfe manned by a tagger playing half back, instant matchup issues.
