Fox Sports analysis of the draw, and who got 'easy' and 'hard' match-ups:

Briefly we’ll note the Giants have a draw that’s quite a bit tougher than their fellow 2022 bottom-four sides - who have the three easiest sets of double-ups - including two meetings with Sydney, the Bulldogs and a sure-to-improve Carlton. Not the nicest start to Adam Kingsley’s coaching career.

AFL 2023 fixture difficulty (from easiest to hardest)

1. Essendon

2. North Melbourne

3. West Coast Eagles

4. Adelaide

5. Carlton

6. Hawthorn

7. Gold Coast Suns

8. St Kilda

9. GWS Giants

Third last in '22, but mid-range difficulty of the draw, while the bottom VFL clubs (plus Carlton) are looked after very nicely by VFL House. Notwithstanding, if the boys put in the work, and the new coaching staff have a better game plan, the opportunity is there for the team to rebound up the ladder. It's all up to them.

The GIANTS return after their mid-season bye in round 16 to take on Melbourne in Alice Springs.

In round 17, we return to the favoured twilight timeslot at GIANTS Stadium to take on Hawthorn on Saturday, July 8 in a Live and Local Round, featuring local entertainment from across Western Sydney as well as small businesses and market stalls.

Round 18 sees the Orange Team travel to Adelaide to take on the high-flying Crows in a Saturday night blockbuster.

The GIANTS hit Ballarat in round 20, taking on fierce rivals the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

The GIANTS head to the City of Churches again in round 22 to take on the Power at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.

We then round out the home season at GIANTS Stadium with a family-friendly twilight match against Essendon on Saturday, August 19 at 4:35pm in round 23. This will be our annual Member Thanks Round as we recognise our loyal Orange Army.

The final round of the home-and-away season will see the GIANTS head to Melbourne to take on Carlton, with the date and time for round 24 still to be confirmed.

Does that allow you out of Melbourne on the Sunday night? Or do you have to hang around till Monday for a flight, totally trashing your training schedule for the week. Seems pretty unreasonable to me. At least with a 3.30 game you would make a flight out that night.

Sydney Airport curfew is at 11 pm. Last flight out of Melbourne is at 9 pm. The game goes from 6:10 pm to 9pm-ish. No way are they (or attendees) getting back to Sydney that night.

At least for the team there's the pre-finals bye if we make it.
