I'd have Lloydy ahead a couple of those blokes ... #robbed
I had to look up who Marcus Adams was - 27 games for the dogs over 3 years and 46 for the lions over 4. And Paddy McCarton 63 games in 6 years with, ok, a lot of potential, but also a f**k-ton of injuries.

Lloydy is ahead of both those easily

Some retrospective thoughts from SEN on season 2023.

A lot of nominees from GWS (Toby Greene with multiple nominations in different categories) but just one winner. Nonetheless, some positive press for the club.

Most Valuable Player (home-and-away season)

NOMINEES: Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
Charlie Curnow (Carlton)
Nick Daicos (Collingwood)
Toby Greene (GWS)

Winner: Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

Most Improved Player

NOMINEES: Zak Butters (Port Adelaide)
Kieren Briggs (GWS)
Nick Daicos (Collingwood)
Errol Gulden (Sydney)

Winner: Errol Gulden (Sydney)

Offensive Player of the Year

NOMINEES: Charlie Cameron (Brisbane)
Charlie Curnow (Carlton)
Toby Greene (GWS)
Taylor Walker (Adelaie)

Winner: Charlie Curnow (Carlton)

Defensive Player of the Year

NOMINEES: Darcy Moore (Collingwood)
Sam Taylor (GWS)
Jacob Weitering (Carlton)
Callum Wilkie (St Kilda)

Winner: Sam Taylor (GWS)

While he missed a fair chunk of the season with a hamstring injury, Sam Taylor was simply the best one-on-one defender in the competition when fit. Would have easily been an All-Australian if he didn’t miss from Round 6 to Round 13.

Best Finals Player

NOMINEES:
Keidean Coleman (Brisbane)
Toby Greene (GWS)
Bobby Hill (Collingwood)
Sam Walsh (Carlton)

Winner: Sam Walsh (Carlton)

Clutch Player of the Year

NOMINEES:
Blake Acres (Carlton)
Toby Greene (GWS)
Dan Houston (Port Adelaide)
Steele Sidebottom (Collingwood)

Winner: Blake Acres (Carlton)

Coach of the Year

NOMINEES:
Ken Hinkley (Port Adelaide)
Adam Kingsley (GWS)
Craig McRae (Collingwood)
Michael Voss (Brisbane)

Winner: Craig McRae (Collingwood)

Adam Kingsley shocked most after taking GWS from nowhere to within one point of a Grand Final, but Craig McRae was able to lead his side to a minor premiership and flag victory. All of his finals wins came by single digits. Some coaching.

Executive of the Year

NOMINEES:
Chris Davies (Port Adelaide)
Andrew Mackie (Geelong)
Jason McCartney (GWS)
Graham Wright (Collingwood)

Winner: Graham Wright (Collingwood)

Some more commentary on season 2023 from SEN (this time Kane Cornes):

Allan Border Award

Not that Allan Border Medal … this one of for the game’s best leader.

Toby Greene, GWS

“I wouldn't have said this three years ago, two years ago or even one year ago, but Toby Greene's the best captain in the game.

“He was rightly recognised with All-Australian captaincy and who would have thought that he would be leading the Giants the way that he is now a year ago?

“I just think it's one of the best footy stories I've seen from where Toby Greene has been.

“I think he's a top three player in the game and right now he's the best captain.”

Apart from Aleer, who are our starting tall defenders in the VFL team?
Probably a position we need to add depth to, would target a tall with the Flynn compo to give us someone else back there that could maybe develop into something.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what type we target with our second pick too.
If he's still there like Zakostelsky, late convert to AFL but super athlete and has a bit of intercepting ability as a key defender. He's someone that's pretty raw and going to take a few years but the outline is there of someone that could be an impact player, bit like Noah Balta he's a super athlete but was really raw coming in and mainly just got by on athleticism alone the first couple years but now he's developed into one of the best interceptors in the entire comp.

If Cadman's in the team, Keeffe is out; otherwise we're too tall. Based on the 2023 team, Callum Brown instead of Keeffe, and I'd suggest O'Halloran instead of Rowston at the moment.

looks pretty close to me. All those guys will be in the mix.
there will be a fair bit of competition at the back end of the squad. Haynes obviously a very good chance to come in somewhere. The likes of XOH (who I think will be in), Callum Brown, Gruzewski, the 2 new 1st round recruits this year and even Derksen will compete for spots. Adam Kennedy is never too far away from a game.
Experienced players like Ward, Cumming and Keefe may feel pressure. Rowsten, Cadman & Riccardi will be looking to lock in spots.

Lots of depth. Good spot to be.
