Just thought I’d make a tread to discuss the 2024 draft and how impressive the kids have been so far, it was always highly touted and it looks like its shaping up to be ripper of draft, maybe even a super draft!

Lalor with his explosiveness, FOS with his class and toughness, Jagga with his agility and ability to find the footy, they all look like absolute guns and future super stars of the game

Langford’s got a lovely left boot, Lombard plays like a cannon ball, Ashcroft’s already a very good player, Tauru shown plenty, they all look to have star potential and thats just that top 10.

Also Reid’s been super impressive and already one of Freo’s most important players, Sam Marshall’s already a premiership player for the Lions.

Lindsey been good for the Dees, Berry’s shown a bit for Port and this is just players taken in the first round

Im sure I’ve miss a few but wow what a draft this is turning out to be.

Agreed. So many of these draftees have had impressive starts. Other than the ones you listed, Kako has been an absolute gun, and Ty Gallop deserves a shoutout for being a premiership player too.

From a Carlton perspective, Harry O'Farrell has been super promising so far as well, especially in his game against Hawthorn last year (19 disposals, 13 marks, 3 tackles as a first year KPP). Lots of other highly promising KPPs at other clubs too - shoutout especially to Jobe Shanahan, who kicked 12 goals from 9 games whilst getting some of the worst supply of all time from the Eagles' midfield last year. I've also liked the Whitlock twins when I've seen them.

Has not gotten any flowers outside of the WC sub, but Bo Allan has played pretty much 6 great quarters of footy in the opening fortnight. His athleticism and penetration has really been on show.

His trajectory is currently making WC fans a lot less devo about the pick 3 trade, even though we've been hinting that its not as bad as it seems all along.

Yeah but the only reason why people keep bringing it up is to make bad faith arguments of "traded pick 3 for Matt Owies!!!1!" so was it ever really worth discussing?

I was a big gee for Bo. He has some Jordan Dawson about him, and getting him in my eyes made up for the pick downgrade.

FOS was close to best tonight going head to head with Merrett. In a team that make a lot of mistakes - he never does.

Super impressive. I had doubts he'd be able to find enough ball to be a genuine onballer at AFL level but he sure looks the part this year.

Looks like an incredible draft so far.

FOS and Smith have both had huge starts to 2026. Looking forward to seeing them come up against each other this week.

Sam Marshall looks very impressive for a pick 25 but gets somewhat overlooked thanks to the superstar we took before him. Debuted in a team full of superstars and didn't look out of place.

reckon he sticks around or finds better opportunities this off-season?

Tauru looks great, a young Trevor Barker.

Noah Mraz at pick 35 might end up the steal of the draft. Will have to bide his time given the strength of the Hawks back line, but looks a real player.

If he ends up being more of a steal at 35 than Shanahan at 30 then you've got a good one for sure.

yea, don't worry, I thought about that. Jobe is lucky that he is at the Eagles and can get a game, Mraz too would be getting one if he was there.
I'm very sure both will be great players, I'd stick with Mraz at this stage, but both will be fabulous bargains.
Time will tell, Mraz won't really be pressing, unless there are injuries, until 2027.

That also applies to Mraz at the Eagles, he'd be higher up the depth chart than he is at the Hawks obviously, but if we're playing the unless their are injuries thing then he wouldn't be in the first 3 choices, 4 if you include Ginbey.

Did really rate him in his draft year and wanted us to get him with the pick that ended up being 30, but that's because I thought Jobe would be gone in the first 18
