Semantics warrior.

They were obviously saying the last time Geelong missed finals (before 2023), there was a good response.

Same as after 2006.

Trend will have to die eventually though.
Maybe, not trying to be semantic but OP pointing to a previous time as the reason Geelong will bounce back is nonsense, almost as if the mentality is that Geelong didn't miss the 8 last year, and if they did its not worth mentioning.

Yeah fair enough.

It is a whole new group of players besides Duncan, Guthrie (already injured) and Hawkins.

It's such an even comp. Luck will be enough to separate 5th through 12th probably (then there will be a few that truly excel and a handful that are poor) and that's the range I think Geelong will be in.

It's super tough, it's true that news of Geelongs demise has been much exaggerated over the years, will it be this year, we don't know and OP is fair to argue history says Geelong won't miss again.

But I'm more on what you are saying, it's a new era, a new look structure, and I'm saying you are already out of the 8, struggling to get back in, not guaranteed to bounce back.

Good luck!

The media narrative of the Demons sliding has got into the heads of a lot of people on here.. I’ve followed that club for my 39 years on this planet, I’ve known when we’re shit and when we’re decent.

The Demons of 24 are stronger than 23, we’ve finally addressed our lack of inside vs outside balance.

The defensive structure is still in the top 2 in the league and our forward line already looks to be functioning much better.

I can’t see us winning less than 15-16 games and finishing lower than 4th. But take from that what you will.

You’re telling me that peoples ladder predictions are based off surface level views of other clubs performances?

Hate to say it but the last time you missed the finals was last year.

Aside from being super pedantic, you're correct. Anything can happen.

Never said it was guaranteed, just saying with the hardest schedule in 2023 and a buttload of injuries i don't think we can take too much out of last season.

I think with a tough schedule plus off field drama is what people are basing it on.

The problem with the squiggle predictor is you tend to repeat the same starting point bias over a season. So if you rate your team a little better than others than can quickly snowball to an outlier result, and when you look back it seems out of touch with what you actually believe.

Kudos though for going through the process, it's a fair time commitment!

Yeah, I really should be getting back to work, but...

I have no doubt I'll be wrong about the ladder, to be right I'd have to have a 100 percent tipping record. I'd be lucky to have 50 percent.

Tigers under Yze could definitely surprise... if Lynch, Bolton, Dusty, Prestia, and Taranto play full seasons.

This is going into the finals.

Think anyone down 14th could play finals tbh. Tight year.
That’s pretty good…., usually there’s another riser/faller but maybe not this year

if Sam Taylor is fit most/all of the season, GWS will make top 4.
