McGovern at his best, Yes. But 33 early next year and injury prone. He's played 12, 15, 10, 9 & 16 games in his last 5 seasons

We need to move away from these type players. Not for me
Smacks of a Mick Martyn bandaid to cover for Livingston while he got experience… only for Mick to retire once he hit his 300.

On a similar note, do you have any info on the details around Corey Durdin’s shoulder? Get the feeling he has been carrying it for a while, before aggravating in a fairly inoccuous tackle attempt a couple of weeks back. Surely if we resigned him for two years, there are plans to remedy this to get him back to his best.
Probably send him in to see 1AW’s shoulder surgeon come the end of the season.

Nope. Both GWS & Melbourne seemingly hoped he'd become one but he's more a big utility.
Wasn’t he recruited as a third tall forward at GWS? I seem to remember hoping we could pick him up for that role.

J McGovern would be a great short term option, and if we could acquire him, we would need to target a young KPD

I see J Gov as an option for the next 2 seasons. I’d also like to see us get a KPD in the draft. I think O’Farrell could fall around our pick or we could trade future picks to get him.

We have to address the KPD issue. We’ve been caught out thinking we could get by with Kemp and Marchy covering the post. Kemp has shown he can’t sustain it.

I’d still keep Young because he can essentially provide “break-glass” cover for three positions…key back, key forward and ruck. That is not something to sneeze at.

This also allows us to play Kemp forward which is where Voss originally wanted him - he played there in the 2022 pre season and only went back when Gov was injured.

Kemp with a returning SOS and Elijah gives us some options at medium forward which means we don’t have to keep the injury prone Jack Martin.

It also means Moir may become expendable. IMO he is too conditional to make it. He could however be a trade chip to get Rachele…the dynamic mid/fwd we need.

With the exception of J Gov, who addresses the now, those moves make us a bit younger, at the cost of future picks and without giving up any top players.

We also should have the salary cap space to do it - we tabled a pretty big offer to Hayward - but if need be I’d be willing to sacrifice Owies to get Rachele and J Gov.

You’re assuming he plays. Is 2 years playing 10-12 games a year worth the investment and list spot?

I would hope our LM group would be past this type of player. Imagine finally get rid of Marchbank Martin Cuningham just to recruit another player that can’t get on the ground?

It’s a big risk

That'd be more than what we got out of Marchy.

Tim English FA and just about to turn 27

Get him in, play TDK at CHB or even train HOK in that spot.

With the Campo kids and some draft picks we are all set for more runners.

Problem solved 😎

Perkins is regarded as a FIGJAM who never makes an effort by essendon fans. He's in and out of the team, is more a HF than mid and is third or fourth in line for the role in 2024.

Needs a change of pace but i don't think he's an upgrade on anything we have now, or not for the value they'd want.
Has Owies Fogarty Durdin Cuningham Kennedy Carroll Binns Cottrell Martin(injury wise) as forwards/midfielders absolutely clearly covered…

Nah, TDK is the future of Ruck. (Hopefully finals) and Another preseason under his belt, and he'll be the benchmark.

You could do worse than picking up the phone to DGB, he'd be cheap and gettable, will be on the way out of the hawks one way or another i'd be thinking at season's end.

Hasn't proven himself yet but that's why he's cheap and gettable.

Poor one on one defensively, not a proper KPD not sure he’s worth persevering with for a 3rd defender, been tried up forward for mixed results, unfortunately a high draft pick that just hasn’t lived up to his junior talent…
We’ve had a few of our own over the last half a dozen years…
Big pass…

Just on our list, I find it interesting that people are openly critical of weaknesses of some of our players, yet struggle to accept the weaknesses of other players

Every single player on our list (every player in the league) has deficiencies in their game

It's why it's so important to find the right mix to build a cohesive unit

That does work in reverse, when people over rate a player's trade value when they have openly sacked him.
