Soap, don't start with your condescending emojis

My statement never changed, neither of those will be available at our

We then have to hope either slides a little and a club is will to trade out a top 10 pick

Be consistent then. And it wasn't condescending, it was confusing

Watson over Dursma every day of the week. Find it easier to see how he translates at afl level and exactly what we need. Hopes aren't very high but could see him falling to around 10 which gives us a chance depending on how many eggs we want to place in that basket (tradewise)

Geelongs Pick 7 and Western Bulldogs Pick 10 would be the only 2 picks potentially available in the top 10 for us. Pick 4 from GCS too far of a stretch for us to get up to.

Both would be line ball as to whether Watson would make it to either of those picks.

Imo if Sanders is gone by their pick Geelong will trade back. Dogs will be trying to trade up to 4 to avoid losing their picks to an early Croft bid.

That leaves:

Tholstrup
Collard
Leake
Delean
Moir
Callinan
Sanchez

As the best small/medium fwds left. Collard and Delean probably the most natural goalkickers but have their drawbacks as players.

About time we got involved in one of these salary dump deals edit: 👍👍👍

All I know is Cook & Austin have deliberately worked to put us in a position that we are able to take advantage of any situation that may arise. Another great example of the value of Cook

We have spoken with lot's of players and Managers, are more across things than ever before. We are keen to do a swap with GCS or GWS for picks

If we can't trade up from our current 1st rounder we will hope to get 2 or 3 inside top 35

Great thing is we are prepared for anything that may arise and I'm not sure that has been the process before

That makes me think we're after the Wizard or Duursma. Still holding out hope my boy Mckercher does a Charlie on draft night eve and slips to 16, kids an absolute gun.

So you're saying we're a chance to upgrade or trade up? 🤔

I don't know but imagine adding a Top 10 pick to what we have that can step in straight away. Then next year we have a a few Father/Sons

If we can add a Top 10 pick, Gresham, Hollands, Crozier plus some smart later picks to Williams and the improvement I expect in our younger players like Hollands, Cowan, Binns,, O'Keefe, Durdin, our List is so much better in 2024

That's my take

It's not a bad strategy. Every year there are a group of 8-12 players clear of the rest. If you cant get up into group you are better off getting multiple bites of the apple in the top 35 then a single late first.

No need to trade up in my view but I must admit I know Jack s**t

Delean from what I’ve seen will suit me. Trying to be overly clever has hurt sides from what I’ve seen aka Sos Liam stocker trade and dodipshit

great to have further confirmation Soapy, last trade period was very conservative and unimaginative, when I mentioned it , was lambasted, Probably salary cap restrictions were the cause for caution .
Looking forward to a few quality youngsters and some astute mature additions this trade /draft period. The correct list additions could just about get us to Grand Final next year.

Agree we need a bit of magic, x-factor in the side particularly after seeing the impact of those players in the Grand Final.

Bailey was magical, Hill, Cameron and even McCarthy. We have really no one that can add that to our side.

Whilst I’ve tended to prefer to shy away from these types as they have a tendency to go missing for long periods as they’re reliant on ball supply leaving too much workload on other players, I think now we have enough workers that we can carry a couple if it comes down to it.

Shame that a player like Watson who would normally slide right in the zone of our picks due to his height has almost put too good a body of work together that he’ll get taken earlier than he normally would.

Interesting. I am the other way :thumbsu:

Duursma looks as good as anyone in the draft to me. I have him next to Reid

Players like Watson worry me. He looks awesome at Under 18 but to often those 170cm type players struggle to step up. Higgins, Ainsworth come to mind. The stand out is Daniel so only time will tell

No I said we would need to trade our future 1st if one slid, and a club was interested

The End? Go try point score somewhere else Soap, not interested
This is a forum for discussion - why do you feel the need to attack anyone with a different opinion to yours?

Everyone is aware Watson is highly unlikely to slide to our current pick but this is a list management thread and everyone should be able to discuss options regardless of whether you consider them realistic.

How many of the games best players are actually lightning quick? I’d be recruiting Gresham because at his best he could kick us 35 goals at half forward and add to the midfield mix, something we don’t really have. If the money is right he is really a no brainer, unfortunately it doesn’t look like the money is right especially if Essendon are trying to pull a shifty with compo picks.

I am confident we can find that pace and X factor at the draft, and those players can come in and have an impact quickly because we now have the environment for them to do so. It’s easier when you’re winning games and senior players can take the heat.
Get a full season out of Jack Martin, and he's easily a 30 - 40 goal half forward. I think he is 17 goals from 11 games this season

Again, I made a standalone post, which people took issue with, never attacked anyone

Perhaps you could add to the discussion rather than the 3rd man in

I think SC was a genuine concern last year. All I know is that Cook was not happy with our List profile. Felt it will take 2-3 years to get it right. One of his major focusses has been to work with Austin & Lloyd to get it under control.

So many players have re signed on very basic money and there won't be the BIG contracts anymore
