Sam Cumming had his senior SANFL debut for North Adelaide on the weekend and produced a creditable and promising performance. With his team copping an almighty shellacking at the hands of Sturt, Cumming could have been forgiven for getting a bit lost, but he worked hard all game and might even have snuck into the Roosters best. He showed no fear of the mature bodies, cracking in and laying his share of bumps and tackles. His kicking wasn't as effective as we've come to expect, possibly due to him being rushed by the increased pace of the game, or possibly because his tall targets were getting soundly beaten by their opponents.

A lot of the better prospects in this pool seem like they’ll be a bit of a slow burn… but our midfield is so cooked and needs immediate help imo. We should be looking at low cost, steady impact types to come in and hold stead for a few years at least. Taranto and Hopper can’t do it all themselves.

What about Will Brodie?

Yeah, I could see us doing a Lindsay and Grlj or Fred double. Marsh would be a luxury if we go down that path.

There is also a chance that Essendon trade up for our pick 3 if CDT is still on the board.
This could work. Pick 3 for 5 + F1 thanks Bombers.

Figures that as soon as I start to waver in my liking of Lindsay & Grjl that information comes to light that they are in the mix for our picks at this stage.

With that I'm back on that train and riding it all the way.
They became more appealing once you jumped off in fairness

Hearing that Rodriguez, Grlj, NHH and Josh Lindsay are all there aboutsbut hearing some whispers about Mitch Marsh. Lindsay at this stage is our preferred due to his kicking skills.

Club will also consider CDT if he falls past the West Coast 1-2 Sharp CDT combo.

lol no.

Cumming and Sharp.

Noob likes me better than you Calcium Man Got my request done in 48 hours and yours lucky to be 48 days 😁

I'm pretty sold on Cumming as a great pick and fit at 3 or 4. Tough, combative, explosive, good skills, good size, versatile and kicks goals.
Yep that latest SANFL clip is very good.

So are his past ones at 18s level. I kinda dismissed it as just SANFL because he hasn't been rated near our picks but the SA kids are better than the Vic ones 🤣

Thoughts on a Fred and Cumming draft haul. Seems like they'd compliment our current young crop quite well given both seem to be defensively minded when their team is not in possession.

Would have liked to see Fred in a more McCluggage type role. He was a bit meh as an inside mid at Champs.

The evenness in talent outside of the academy picks will make the combine testing and interviews a lot more important for teams like Richmond, West Coast and Essendon who will probably be making up 6 of the first 7 picks on players that aren’t tied to a team already.

A side fact is that Carlton’s first selection in the draft is currently not until pick 35 😂 they are nearly guaranteed to have to trade out one of their so called ‘stars’ to get some talent in.

I think the AFL with tinker with it or West Coast threaten to match to force Brisbane to offer more to ensure the Eagles get pick 2.

We will likely look into Duursma, but club are looking more at Speed/Footskills at the moment, unless there is a unicorn like CDT available. Duursma is a bit of a victim of his surname with Xavier and Zane looking good early but have stagnated. There are similar concerns about Willem and his long term development.

Marsh plaus as a tall forward for SA but we are hoping to develop him into a taller type wingman utilising his athleticism and booming left foot.
that is ridiculous trying to think about playing Marsh as a wingman. It might be possible but a long shot

If he has a booming left foot( I have not watched him enough) play him forward

these people that love to put people through the wing are mad. Wing is a specialist position.

Richo worked on wing because Richo was a wingman who just happened to be able to contribute up forward

you get Marsh as a forward because we want better forwards and someone that fits into our dynamic and mix better making our others better to

There's a good chance if tdk leaves they get the compo for him, and a team before them will bid on harry dean (father-son) as he is projected as the best defender in the draft and that will be consumed.
