I'd rather Harry Scott than Kellaway.

I think trading in Retschko was them choosing him over Harry Scott.

Same size, capable of playing similar role, similar VFL numbers with Retschko a year younger and kicking more goals. Scott wouldn't get midfield time in the AFL and have to a wing type and they probably view Retschko as better for that role.

I wouldn't say no to him though to double dip on that sort of player if we had 2 spots though but it seems like we don't.

Though they may turn out to be the true winners of this draft ... there are a lot of players in this draft that don't warrant a 2 year, let alone 3 year contract

I still don't think there is anyone in this draft that would have gone first round last year . If you don't believe me consider this .,.

A Tap dancer was the number one pick

Despicable Me Lol GIF
Hate to say it, but that's a great skill to have for the AFL. fast feet in tight.

On the other hand he is a Duursma, so all good (or bad if you are a WC fan)

Those successful bids really paid off!
I genuinely think you should be pretty worried if someone doesn't match your bid.

They've spent a number of years developing them and getting to know them etc and get to pick them up on the cheap and then don't match?

Sam Cumming
From: North Adelaide (SANFL), Wentworth District Football Club

Samuel Grlj
From: Oakleigh Chargers (Coates Talent League), Canterbury Junior Football Club

Zane Peucker
From: Woodville-West Torrens (SANFL), Port District Football Club

Noah Roberts-Thomson

What the club says:

"Sam [Cumming] has great speed and power and is a strong overhead mark. He is a team-first player and was a highly valued teammate across all teams he represented. He is a player of high character, and we are thrilled to welcome him and his family to Tigerland.

Sam [Grlj]'s attributes are really clear when you watch him play and he always plays to his strengths which is his terrific mix of speed, agility and endurance. Our fans will love his ability to use these attributes to take the game forward and break lines. His ability to link up and challenge the opposition with his run and dash is the standout feature in his game, which is also underpinned by the fact that he is a serious competitor who loves to win." - Tigers recruiting manager Rhy Gieschen

Didn't we bid on Kako last year?

EDIT: Yes, we did, bloody CFL at it again

Essendon has successfully matched a first-round bid to secure talented forward Isaac Kako with pick No.13 in the 2024 Telstra AFL National Draft.

The 18-year-old was bid on by Richmond early in the draft, with his ties to the Bombers as a James Hird Academy product allowing the club to match the bid and select Kako in exchange for picks 33 and 34.

That list gives me no confidence in our recruiting team in that 2018-2020 period. Thank god Clarke decided to go to West Coast although the jury should be well and truly out on Rhy as well.

Nah think everyone is thinking that because it was thought if Louis was a rookie we would have another pick at 2 but we took NRT and filled the list with the spot thst was thought to be reserved for a Louis' bid.

Youve probably already answered this but when is your chat with Rhy?
Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here, it has been a long 48 hours..

but if:

You can have 6 cat A rookies and 3 cat b rookies.

currently we have as rookies:
Tresize, Gray, Lefau

Cat b rookie:
OHB

42 / 44 spots filled

wouldn't that mean we can use 2 of our 3 rookie slots available to hit the 44 quota today?

Pretty sure its 2 cat B but also that's still only 1 x cat A left.

We can add a cat B but who would we add?

max list size = 44
max primary spots = 38 which we filled last night.
Max Cat A rookies is 6, we have 3 currently.
Max Cat B rookies is 2, we have 1.

38 + 3 + 1 = 42 spots of 44 filled.

So we still could utilise 2 of our 3 remaining rookie spots?

Can anyone confirm what part of the list an SSP player joins? Is it the senior list or the rookie list?

Just wondering if we might keep our powder dry for that (if we can)

It's max 44 including 2 cat B rookies.

You can have 36-38 on the senior list and 4-6 on the cat A rookie list, but the combined total can't exceed 42.

We've currently got 38 on the senior list, and 3 cat A rookies, so room for one more (most likely Kellaway).
