I reckon Kellaway could be that inside mid that would compliment the likes of Lalor, Smillie, Hotton and McAulliffe, throw in Campbell and the odd stint from MRJ and we have a completely different looking midfield to the one that was trotted out this year.

Add Robey who's a medium sized forward who can also rotate through stoppages and be very effective for ground ball gets then that midfield looks more dangerous again.

Sam Grilj adds speed and line breaking ability from the back half and again be impactful around stoppages.

Matt LeRay, whilst having a poor 2km at the combine, still gets up and down the ground on the wing, maybe his 15km endurance is better than most? Anyway, he oozes leadership and can play in all 4 positions, forward, wing, midfield and defence.

Retschko locks down the other wing.

Those 7 extra players drafted over the last 2 years (as well as a few already), who all impact around the ball would make us a substantially different team to the one rolled out this year.

Does anyone know Kellaways combine numbers?
His performances at the National Draft Combine further proved his worth as a decent ground-level athlete, registering an almost sub-three-second 20-meter sprint (3.002 seconds), an agility test of 8.154 seconds, and a very respectable 2km time trial effort of 6.31

I don't know who we should or will draft. I hope we pick 2 potential game changers. not just players to fill a spot. they can be added down the track. great teams need special talent and that is what having picks 3+4 gives you a chance at.

again don't know how we'll go next year, but really excited to be on another journey. with the 8 picks from last year, Lalor, hotton and faull carried injuries into the preseason. smilie didn't play afl at all (play at all). what they will give this year is exciting

add the 4 players we have spots for this year and how Gibcus, Kmac2, Grey etc will develop is exciting. can't wait for the season to start. not even worrying about win/losses. just for the new talent to dominant moments, increased %, more quarters won etc.

get us into a position to draft more talent next year and show glimpses of what we will become to attract free agents and trades as well. go tigers

I don't think you can easily pick up a bunch of pacey/classy outside players, they're the rarest type.

You know why we got all those picks last year? Because players like Bolton and Daniel Rioli are really hard to come by.

Conversely every draft has a dozen Dyson Sharps and there's usually a bunch going for cheap in the trade market as well. For some reason everyone wants us to fill the easy-to-fill roles first and then once our list is mostly built we're just going to hope the hardest-to-find players just fall into our lap.
Should we try and fill the hardest role in the weakest draft?

Likewise

Was more in the trade thread last few weeks and have been 40 pages behind here. Taken me weeks to get within 10 pages and then campaigners add another 10 pages rehashing the same points from the last 50 about splitting, sharp, robey, grilj. I did enjoy the random tangent about testing robey for PEDs given his rise... campaigners
I fell wayyyy behind on the trade thread (like... probably 200 pages or something. It rolled over to a new one and I haven't even read any of that). Definitely just gonna skip to the end of that one

For those who missed the live last night:

Sullivan Robey is the player Dylan and I will be chatting to during the day which I'll post when completed on Monday.

Xavier Taylor is player joining Dylan and I on the live show Monday night for the first 15-30 minutes! Xavier is a mad Tiger supporter too!

Looking forward to chatting to them both!
Might camp outside 🤔 get a selfie with big sully

It just shows that our list management and recruiting team have a better feel for player potential and attributes than Cal Twomey. On the sample size we’ve got to work with, Lalor is the best prospect from last years draft, Jonty is best tall and Hotton is the most exciting.

That is insanely accurate - he nailed the entire top 10.

We need quality mids with inside / outside abilities not HBF's

Cumming - Robey - Sharp

Which ever 2 players are available
Not sure why you keep ignoring Grlj when mentioning midfielders with inside/outside ability as that is exactly what he brings to the table as a midfielder. Granted he only played HB with us and in the champs he ended up at HB, but for the majority of the year he has played midfield.

Grlj could become Butters imo. I want him at Richmond

I feel like it benefits both West Coast and Essendon to do a trade like this

Ess give: 5, 6, 27
WCE give: 2, 13, 41

Essendon get their pick of CDT or Robey, plus retain a mid 1st rounder while keeping enough points to match their academy players (can probably still use their pick 21 before Sweid is bid on too)

Sharp fits West Coast's needs perfectly, and he's a much more justifiable pick at 5. They also get whichever of CDT, Cumming, Taylor, Grlj slip past us and gain another usable pick in the early 20s. If they wanted Farrow, itd be a bit of a reach at 6 but I'm sure they'd be putting out feelers to Melbourne/Carlton/Hawthorn about making something happen via a slideback.
