Richmond trading pick 4 to Carlton for 9 & 11 then bidding on Patterson at 3, Annable at 4, then Dean at 5 would be the best draft night experience ever.
Personally i think that would be a pretty good position to be in as they would then have the ability to bid on the GC & Lions players if they wished pushing the dean bid back as much as possible but they wont have enough points to match both Dean & Ison even with Richmond giving #38

Who are these mids with pace( agree we do need)
Grlj, Cumming, Robey clearly are better choices imo

Don’t get me wrong I’d love Taylor on our list just not in front of those 3 for our current needs

That’s not me, matter of fact people have pointed the finger at it being a different poster from this board

C. It is my opinion that there are no elite mids in this draft. It is my utter conviction that if there is one, it won't be Sharp or Cumming. Phillipou is the best chance in my view - should we use pick 4 on him? I'm all for splitting pick 4 if it means we get Phillipou and another good pick, peferably next year.
D. It makes perfect sense not to draft mids just for the sake of it if you don't rate them. Recruiters are paid to make these calls based on their experience and judgement. It's a prediction.
Just because you believe something strongly doesn't make it any more potentially true than if you believe something moderately. Especially when crystal balling.

And you don't know any more about the recruiters than the mock draft journos. Unless you have spoken to them.

Could easily see him replacing Jayden Short in 16 months time
Has the speed and endurance now and is a great kick and reader of the ball. His marking is very good and can intercept

Easy to see what his future role is 'If you want to see it '
Exactly what we saw when Short was missing and we were a more cohesive unit because of it.

And yet you are so adamant about who we must take. I think there's a log in your eye.

TIGER CONUNDRUM

Which players Richmond selects with its first two picks remains a big talking point among the industry.

Should West Coast overlook Duff-Tytler, the Tigers would almost certainly pounce with their first natural selection. But the expectation is the Eagles will pair Duff-Tytler with Duursma.

Three open-pool players are consistently linked with Richmond: Eastern Ranges star pair Xavier Taylor and Sullivan Robey, as well as Oakleigh Chargers speedster Sam Grlj.

Robey – a powerful 192cm forward-mid – is the biggest bolter in an AFL draft since Clayton Oliver 10 years ago. No AFL club had spoken to Robey prior to July this year. Three months later, all 18 had contacted him.

Taylor is a serious defensive talent who’s rocketed into top-10 calculations over recent months. At 191cm, he’s a genuine hybrid third defender who has the athleticism and versatility to either lock down or intercept while playing on forwards of different sizes.

Grlj, who’s spoken to 17 of the 18 AFL clubs, is a hybrid midfielder with the appealing combination of speed, power and endurance.

Opinions from rival clubs vary on what the Tigers will do.

Some believe Robey would be too good to overlook. If the Tigers didn’t select him, he wouldn’t get past either Essendon or Melbourne.

Most would be shocked if Richmond overlooked Taylor, who’s seen as a possible long-term replacement for the likes of Nick Vlastuin and Nathan Broad. But would the Tigers prioritise midfielders at the pointy end of the draft? And would Essendon or even Melbourne have a similar mindset?

The Tigers arguably don’t have a player with running power and speed like Grlj on their list. But if they don’t pick Grlj, he could slide past several clubs and land somewhere in the middle stages of the first round.

The only other prospect in the Richmond mix would be South Australian midfielder Sam Cumming, yet it’s more likely he’ll land at one of the Bombers or Demons.

Not having a crack at him, but I can't quite get my head around what Tom Brown's role in the team is?
Not really a run and carry, not really an interceptor, not really a lock-down defender on either talls or smalls?

Just coz I'm thinking about the backline and how much of a need X Taylor would be.
I’d love to see Brown move up to a wing to utilise his kicking weapons more.

Nice mark for his size, can kick long range goals.

I feel it suits us up the field more.

Would also then allow a Taylor to slot in if we take him

I told you in PMs you needed to just lay low

Elite kicking is better utlised at half-back than wing. Wing is for eite runners.
