If we’re able to get 2 top 4 picks, I would take best available number 1, then look at trading say pick 2/3/4 (NM pick) for say picks 6/12. So I would be aiming for a trade with GC or Essendon.

Pick 1 - Sharp or Rodriguez

Pick 6 - Onley

Pick 12 - Emmett or CDT or NHH

Then Kellaway
How are we getting 6 & 12? Greaves & Rodriguez would be my choices right now.

CDT playing a solid game in tough conditions. Given the rain his kicks were mostly attempts to take as much territory as possible and not always constructive, but he presented well, competed hard in the ruck and his follow up work at ground level was excellent as is typical for him.

Personally I think this kid has the most upside in this draft. Word out of pre season is he’s grown past the 200cm range now.

Bit of a Luke Jackson about him.

I wouldn’t be worried about how many KP we took in the previous draft…. I think CDT will ultimately play a hybrid mid/fwd/ruck eventually.

Id rather take the 2 first rounders as the top end. Quality wii be in the top 1 thru 8 to 10. Draft will have thinned out by then. Not considered a strong draft.

Lewis Roberts-Thomson would like a word

Former Melbourne skipper & captain-coach, Australian Football Hall of Fame, dual Brownlow Medallist, 6 x Victorian representative Ivor Warne-Smith would like to blow his mates theory to smithereens if it isn't too much trouble old chap. :)

Essendon and Gold Coast both have multiple first round picks. So too does West Coast, therefore we could trade one of our early picks to get multiple early first rounders, but this would only happen if they are top end picks. I’m only saying at the moment as I see the top 10 picks being very even at this stage.

Sharp
Rodriguez
Greeves
Durrsma
Onley
NHH
Cummings

Ludowyke

CDT
Emmett

Academy Picks
Addinsell
Uwland
Annabell

West Coast desperate to get Rodriguez trade picks 2 and 12 (tied to Hawks) for pick 1 to get the local talent.

Does Essendon see Ludowyke as their key forward for the future and trade pick 5 and pick 8 (tied to Melbourne) for pick 1 or 3

Does Gold Coast try to get someone before their academy picks get used on someone they need eg CDT or Emmett.

Either way I can see Blair and team looking to take advantage if we and North finish bottom 3-4 in 2025

Essendon are after Reid and will use 5 & 8 plus future to try and obtain him.

If there is a player in the draft that is 200cm , plays as a ruckman, dominates, and can run 2km in 6 minutes, and is a leader

You take him at Pick 1, you take him, and you run like a rabbit

Academies genuinely need to be cut. If it hasn't already, it's starting to cause some pretty BS situations.

You should get access to Father/Son (100+ games and I reckon that should be increased to 150+) only, and anything else (zone, academy etc), if those things even continue to exist, should just be a small points refund IF you decide to draft them.

But No. Matching. Bids.

Kako should have been available to anyone.

I agree. Its a stupid system. Its just lip service to 14 clubs so the AFL can keep the ludicrous academy advantages in place.

But it IS the system in place. The Hawks listing Greeves its exactly the same as them listing Anderson last year, Essendon listing Kako and WCE listing Champion

But dont stress, the AFL will find a way to stop it happening.

Didn't north try to do this with Rylee Sanders but it was rejected, might've also been the year they got priority picks so the AFL couldn't double up.

2 wins last season and will struggle to win 2 in 2025 how does the priority pick work because it's a reality not advocating for it , but if we're eligible take it.

I'm sure we won't go winless, someone will shit the bed against us.

Would be an interesting test case if we didn't win one. 2 wins in 2 years but only 5 years removed from a dynasty

We aren't even close to a PP. Not sure why people think this could even be an option.

North got a PP at the end of 2022. won 3,4,3 & 2 games over 4 years (2020 to 2023). Hadn't played a final since 2016 and not won a premiership since 1999 they only got a second round and 3rd round pick which they had to trade for established players.

We aren't getting a priority pick this year or anytime soon.

The highlight of this Ollie Greeves performance for me was his move into the forward line in the fourth quarter. He got on the end of a number of chances, having the timing to hit up at the ball carrier on the lead in one instance and strength to protect space for a nice mark on another. If Ollie can prove himself to be a legitimate dual threat as a mid/fwd it will give his draft stocks a real boost.

What’s the talk haw claiming he’s indigenous for academy pic
