cheers 👍 first time I’ve seen that site.
I’m a huge Nank fan and thought he was good again last night , but hard to make a case for him being the #1 rated player. I mean his opponent was awarded the best player, SC awards him a significantly higher score .
It's probably the best site for stats.

Player ratings is the best guide, but it still has its flaws. Gawn was easily better than Nank on the day

I can see the brilliance and what he’s highest outcome is and it’s a NicNat as a ruck or Thilthorpe as a forward.

But I think he’s probably gonna be a more athletic Grundy. That’s still a pretty handy player.

I’d basically only pick him in top 5 if:

His marking and forward craft improve giving me faith he’s closer to Thilthorpe than Grundy, or if I feel comfortable our future midfield is set, I.e McAuliffe cements himself, or our f/s go up another level or whatever it is that makes me think we only need 1 mid in draft come end of season.

Right now imo our midfield is diabolical.
I wouldnt call it diabolical but certainly have work to do in that area but there are alot of unknowns as they are extremely young. Smillie , Lalor , Clarke , McAuliffe , Hotton and even Seth might be part of the midfield mix in 2 years time which would give it a totally different dynamic. Currently have 2 top 5 picks and we need 2 more top end mids to sure up this area. Depending on their developments and combine results Sharp / Greeves and Fred look to be the best available

I wouldn't worry about a ruckman too much, the only ruckman that really troubles us is gawn and he is 33/34. Tom De Koning and Jackson are probably the only other ones that may trouble us going forward .We have enough existing ruck options on the list in Nank, Ryan, Lefau, Sims plus the two cat Bs in OHB and Colina. If all of these options fail we can always just pinch a ruck from someone else.
If Nank ( who turns 31 this year) is injured, Samson Ryan becomes our no 1 ruckman. That’s scary, he’s light years away from being AFL standard. For starters he doesn’t have the tank required to get from contest to contest. Reckon he’s a bust.

Cat B boys likely get delisted. They’d be non competitive at AFL level, they’re regularly towelled up at VFL level.

As promising as Sims is he’s a couple of preseasons away from being ready to play as an AFL ruckman.

I’m not saying we should be wasting early picks on a ruckman, but think we need to look at a back up to Nank .
So it’d be
Nank no 1 ruckman,
? Nanks backup,
Sims developing.
Gonski - Ryan, Mate, OHB.

Agree but I think that is something to do at the end of 2026, i'm cognicent of having too many rucks on the list at the one time hindering their development, especially since we can't rest them forward with the amount of KPPs we have on the list at the moment. The VFL team already looks a bit too tall

I know i'm in the minority on this but if Ryan has to play 5 games a year to cover for nank im ok with that, and think OHB has shown enough to be given a bit more time

Well i think there needs to be a call made on the 2 Cat B boys this year
I see Colina being given the flick and OHB retained for another year and Ryan has another 2 years on his contract
But we should be looking to bring in the next Nankervis thats around 21 years old now and 2 years away from the finished project

it gets back to having a backup ruckman that’s at least competitive, gives your midfield a chance.
We saw in Ryan’s last game, he couldn’t compete. It’s been the same story every game he plays.
No good for developing young mids or building a game plan relying on midfield clearances.
Anyway I’d better stop rambling on about list management issues in the draft thread 😂

This guy is smoking some good sh!t if he thinks greeves is not in the top 20 and fred drops to 10
Says in a reply he doesn't rate Sharp but has him at 7 in his rankings. Puts _RT_ 's flip flopping to shame

Sharp is being judged harshly imo
He is being played HB / HF and usually at a higher level than most other kids but dominates when played mid against his own age group

the 2 cat Bs are awful and will most likely get delisted end of the year. Lefau is that pinch-hit if really needed player. Ryan has a pea heart. That leaves Sims. We need to unearth a Lloyd Meek or hope Ryan turns good after 7 or 8 years like Xerri did at norf.
