That was bloody disappointing. Poor skills and some pretty average effort levels it looked at times too.

Im hoping we ring some changes:

Jones out - Boxshall In. No idea why Jones played anyway, had been poor last 2 weeks let alone coming off illness.
Henry out - Trav In. Henry didnt look like he should of played anyway. Trav was solid in VFL
Collard out - Heath In. Need someone to offer something in the air and played well in VFL. May as well give Moose a go. Collard offered very little again this week. Time for a breather.
Schoey out - Tauru In. Schoey didnt defend well enough and his kicking didnt provide anythign we dont get from giving the ball to Nas and Sincs. Lets get some game time in the Viking.

Steele would be mighty close to being dropped if he wasnt captain and although I know that shouldnt matter it will save him.

He doesn't select himself. Neither does Marshall or Henry.

That's on the Coaching team.
They need to have the balls and say no. The young blokes would be better.

But on that. We were outmatched and outcoached.
Lots of work to be done by players and coaches alike.
Nah, he puts his hand up for selection. Doing that says to the selection committee that he’s right to play

We all would have taken 3 wins and 3 losses prior to round one.

This was a bad loss. Horrible in fact but need to look at the bigger picture.

I’d say there’s not too long before we pull the plug on the dual narrative and bring in Tobie, Tauru, Boxshall & Pou for those who won’t be with us for the next tilt.

Disappointing piece was our vets today. None of us thought we’d be a contender, so need to see the growth from our kids for the remainder of the season.

Frustrating watch.

I've been paying full AFL membership with club support even though I haven't been to a game since early 2018. Literally burning time money and emotions on this Club year in year out it's madness, pure madness.
Good on you for prioritising your spend for the league that ****s us at every opportunity and not spending directly to the club.
While also complaining that the club is no good.
Jesus.

Fatigue set in after 10 minutes ?.

We are screwed.
Like last year, two interstate games in a row, then less rest than the opposition.
How did GWS go? They managed 34 points. Playing in 33 deg heat takes it completely out of your legs.

Just one other thing. I always feel we have this performance in us just around the corner.
Can never trust this football team.
Just don't have the depth. Marshall as useful as **** on a bull atm and nobody to come in, Steele insipid - only kids to come. Still an exciting young core, but will need to replace/bolster our shithouse geriatrics.

Good:

Wilkie - lots of touches lots of marks. Kept it from being 100 points but also naturally got the ball since it was in our half so often and no one else could get near it.

Nas - not his most impactful but still a good haul of touches and where many players looked defeated and slow he kept trying to be inventive, sprinting with the ball trying to weave through traffic and do it all. Champion mentality but overall only a great game in comparison to his team mates.

Owens and Higgins - a few touches, 3 goals each. Done their jobs enough to avoid any criticism. Not good enough to put the team on their back like a Toby Greene from last week.

Windy - ok game for him but the standard for him is now to be our best/second best midfielder. Performance is about a 6/10

Bad:

Literally everyone else.

That was as bad and as apathetic a group effort we have shown since Richardson was coaching. We are better than that but the Dogs just toyed with us. What a contrast in captains Jack Steele if you are injured say so and don't put your hand up to play, if not you were terrible.

I said it at the start of the year we have a bottom 4 list, but a very good coaching group. Now with the constant injuries we are starting to mirror the bottom 4 side. We will start to get players back at some stage but really the horse has bolted, you can't expect to start each year missing a dozen players and think you are going to recover. What occurs is it puts pressure on other players who are not right to have to play and the injuries just snow ball.

We have some excellent kids coming through but they are just that kids. They need quality leadership and we simply dont have the cattle. We will have more wins this year, but our lists has been badly exposed and I can't see it changing in a hurry this season.
