AFLW Blues confirm two list changes

The Blues have announced two changes to its AFLW playing list following the conclusion of the 2024 season.

THE Carlton Football Club can confirm two changes to its AFLW playing list following the conclusion of its 2024 season, with Marianna Anthony and Tahlia Read departing the Club.

Read never really looked likely, so no surprises there.

Anthony maybe a bit stiff, but just read we’ve been linked to a trade for a winger from the Crows so makes a bit more sense now.

Welcome Síofra and Aisling

Irish duo sign to Carlton

Síofra O’Connell and Aisling Reidy have signed to Carlton’s AFLW rookie list for 2025.

Síofra O’Connell and Aisling Reidy have signed to Carlton’s AFLW rookie list for 2025.

Both originating from County Clare in Ireland, O’Connell and Reidy grew up together, playing Gaelic for Doora-Barefield and even attended University of Limerick together, alongside Carlton’s Erone Fitzpatrick.

Welcome ladies, I am sure they are not the only irish players joining AFL lists over summer.

It's getting the stage where we may need a Australia v Ireland game.

Like the look of Reidy, and while O'Connell isn't outright displaying the flair we expect from top Irish converts, some aerial ability and speed are welcome out of defence.

I feel like Lawson-Tavan started to really show something this season. Surprised to see her go and Madeline Hendry stay. An age thing perhaps as Hendrie is still only 22.

Ciara Fitzgerald looked good late in the season too, so we probably had too many tallish defenders.

Aisling Reidy looks exciting as anything.

Between her, Erone being back, Sophie McKay and hopefully a top 2 Victorian pick in the draft if Sophie's bid comes after 5, we are looking to rise over the next couple of years.
