Just been looking at fringe Geelong players, Toby Conway is an interesting one. He's huge at just 22 years of age. Contracted at Geelong but being behind others, surely we can look at him?

Think it is definate spin.

Geelong trade articles currently generate more views and talk than Sydney articles (outrage from opposition fans, Geelong have built a big fanbase).

A few things to remember on this Curnow talk.

  • His management directly reached out to Papley's management to see if he would be willing to go to Carlton as part of a trade (They would NOT be doing this if he wasn't interested in going to the Swans).
  • Papley and Warner have both spoken about the Curnow talk in the media (Papley about the management discussions and Warner about chatting directly to Curnow about it on Brownlow night) both these discussions don't happen if we are not in with a chance
  • Gold Coast have no real need for Curnow, are prioritising other trade targets.
  • Geelong's bigger priority is reportedly Marshall and they have very very minimal that can satisfy Carlton in a trade.

Once you take the above into account, then the fact that Carlton have reportedly shown current/previous interest in Florent/ Hayward and the fact we have first rounders for this year and next that can be packaged...

It starts making sense that we would be the logical option.

Sounds he wants the cats , why we want someone that his heart is set on somewhere else

I also think giving up the farm for a KF is silly in this day and age and he is 29

He also needs a kick up the arse , watch his defensive efforts. He is a lazy prick

Wonder what we would get for Rowbottom

Might of been the unexpected big name I was told about few months ago but then again is he a big name , probably internally I guess and how there rate him judging on bnfs etc etc

Age profile , talent and a throw away pick yep

Staying with Micky o for 2 weeks to probably would have made thee judgement call better then the media on where he is mentally.

He might be of the radar not sure

Why don't you ask Cox and the club ? You really think the club would be going down this avenue if your summation was accurate ?

Apart from what was witnessed yesterday and its hard not to concede the flag to them again next year have you ever considered the Club think we are still in the window and Curnow could be the key ? Picks are like Gold with the Tassie thing agree but its also about list status at the time and everything aligning. We could have the next 3 number 1 picks given to us but it does not guarantees a flag in the next 4-5 years. Imo we need to have one more decent crack at it before Heeney who is at the peak of his powers is done. Having said all that like I said as long as the other mob have the motivation and their luck changes with injuries everyone is playing for second.

To start with, I was referring to JackHiscox's post this morning, which was relying on ITK information that Charlie has his heart set on Geelong, and we are a DISTANT 2nd choice.

Secondly, who knows what happened after Cox met with Charlie? All we know is they met. Other than Cox and the club internally, nobody knows anything, not even the media. For all we know, they may have walked away and decided to move on, OR they could have decided to commit to getting a deal done.

All we have had are strategic leaks of morsels of information that Geelong is his first clear choice, but they seemingly don't have collateral to get a deal done. We are being linked because we have pick 9 and a F1, even though Carlton have said they want players, not picks.

If I could ask Cox, or Keane, or Leon, I would!

Imo he doesn’t bridge the cap much closer to a flag

We had injuries yes but we still finished 10th this season with heeney playing out of his skin at times

Are we even a guarantee to make the 8?

There are gaping hole in this list mate

Giving up multiple pics for a kf doesn’t help

Agree. It’s all very well to get rid of players but we need good replacement. Henry or Fritch would be a good replacement for Hayward. We need to get aggressive and I agree the list needs refreshing badly. Part of the process is trading players of reasonable quality by making sure you get back something in return. That’s why this talk of trading in good players to get Curnow drives me nuts because it is all well to get a key forward but who replaces Hayward or Papley if they are part of any deal? It’s not just about plugging one hole and then creating another.

We're not going to bottom out with Heeney and Mills 28/29. It's hard to top up with shit picks in the first round so what do you do. You need to play your hand and shake up the list. That seems clear

Mind you we're short on every line so it's all a cluster I get it

Has the talent but injury bust to date. Recently had surgery on broken navicular and was on crutches at the GF yesterday - remains unclear whether we'll see him on the field at all next season.
