Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
We need to stop bringing up Weddle, he pulled an Archie Perkins and told the interstate teams not to pick him so that’s that.
But we can melt over every other good player that we didn’t pick.
Dattoli has to come good though, otherwise I’ll be seething as we had so many good talls to choose from last year.
The way I read it as soon as dzario thinks he has a reasonable and “overs” trade ready through about 4 different clubs mega offer he will tell Curnow.Has Curnow requested a trade to Sydney? If not, will come back tomorrow

Buller was one of the bright spots emerging in the latter rounds of the season.Buller would get us absolutely nothing

Really enjoyed his marking and effort and intensity and I know people arent impressed with his kicking but it was OK. Especially the more difficult kicks.
I rate him and after an injury interrupted time with us, id hate to lose him for nothing. I'd prefer to keep him. I think we'll regret losing him at this stage of his development
Amartey is also extremely prone to soft tissue injuries and McLean has proven to be pretty poor when out of shape so we can’t exactly shed key forwards at the moment. We can’t lose any of them really unless we are assured of an upgrade.Buller was one of the bright spots emerging in the latter rounds of the season.

If we haven't made an offer for Buller, we are a pack of nuff nuffs.

Papley was worried about his Dad and wanted to be close. The club found ways to help. ROK I don't know.No idea why you would want to keep a player like that tho.
Papley and going way back Rok both wanted out but never looked desperate to get the heck out of the club.
Haha I’ll just lurk otherwise.

ROK was disappointed with our contract offer (3 years instead of the 4 he wanted) and then bizarrely Roos publicly stated we would pursue Daniel Kerr and that we recognised 2 1st rd picks would be required (and ROK was our only OOC player likely to bring in the extra pick we would have needed).Papley was worried about his Dad and wanted to be close. Dodged a bullet there! Thanks.ROK was disappointed with our contract offer (3 years instead of the 4 he wanted) and then bizarrely Roos publicly stated we would pursue Daniel Kerr and that we recognised 2 1st rd picks would be required (and ROK was our only OOC player likely to bring in the extra pick we would have needed).
So ROK had his nose out of joint and was 'exploring his options'.
It was never about homesickness or any other 'personal' reason.
Kerr almost immediately re-signed with WCE, ROK got his 4 year deal and eventually the midfield minutes that he was seeking and ultimately a Norm Smith Medal to boot.

In hindsight I wished we had selected Weddle. When a talented player is available, I think we should still consider picking them even if we are worried about the go home factor.where was the Weddle thing ever reported aside from on this board? I’m yet to see one article that suggests that was the case
In any event, who cares? What was he going to, sit out for 2 years and not play? Back your club to be good enough
And we will keep melting till something changes. We need to stop bringing up Weddle, he pulled an Archie Perkins and told the interstate teams not to pick him so that’s that.

I'm all for taking risks as we aren't going to get anyone decent unless we do. There is no perfect player about to announce they want to come to us as a free agent.Thoughts on Todd Marshall? Has been injury prone and issues with concussion but has also played good footy when he is fit. Possibly get him cheap, especially given the changing of the guard at Port. And as an added bonus, he is from Deniliquin, just like all time favourite, leaping Leo.
That relationship looks shithouse , saying he is willing to play for Geelong, etc. Hard to mend.I can see Curnow definitely leaving regardless of what’s said about keeping him etc

Fair enough. I looked him up and he is contracted until the end of 2029 so from his point of view, he would really only leave if he could get a comparable deal. Even if Port was to chip in for his contract, the length of his deal is very risky given his injury history, especially concussion.I'm all for taking risks as we aren't going to get anyone decent unless we do. But I think Marshall's issues are too much of a risk.
Bigger bodies around the groundI continue to think what does this team needs moving forward and I keep coming back to 3 areas
1. KPF (Quality)
2. Small forwards (Depth)
3. KPD (Depth)
4. Height
1. We need a #1 Key Forward. Statistically we are basically a non factor in the premiership race if we don't have a goal scoring forward.
2. We have way too few small forwards on our list and non of them are quality. We have seen plenty of the great small forwards be selected very late in drafts and have immediate impact
3. We don't need a #1 Key Defender but we need more depth especially if we are losing all of Hamling, Rampe and Francis this off season. We are going to need a best 22-26 KPD to fill the gap there imo.
4. Height is a problem everywhere across the park, we are tiny in the midfield and tiny in the key position players across the park, time to get a couple of players that offer a little bit of height given some of the unicorn matches in the league.
If we can achieve these 4 goals whilst also drafting our top 3-4 academy guys then I think it will be a positive off-season
