But upon returning to Perth, Darcy has developed an infection in an older ankle injury, which Dockers football boss Joe Brierty revealed would push his pre-season progress back by at least a couple of weeks.

“He saw a specialist (on Wednesday) because he had an infection around an old ankle injury on his other leg,” Brierty told TABRadio.

“So we’re going to send him in to remove a screw in that other ankle. We don’t want to have an infection that delays him any further or longer-term anyway.

As someone with the same foot injury it's something that has to be managed through stretching and painkillers. It can flare up so he'll likely be rested more on the bench during the proper season. Wouldn't be surprised if he misses a game other than the byes to rest it. Still an upgrade only option for me.
