2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

Big call for mine.

Been playing outside of the midfield this year. Last year he was off a HBF with some midfield time. He was top 5 in the comp in a lot of stats. I don't know if ever makes a full time clearance mid but swapping up with Nas of HB with time on ball looks ideal to me. Rowell and Anderson have both stayed fit this year so it's hard to get time on ball. Took Miller playing high HF too.

Most of our targets have been reported in the media.

It even sounds like we leaked the fact we are confident of being able to land Flanders, even before Gold Coast have finished the season.

My completely unfounded thoughts. I reckon the club haven't leaked Flanders at all, especially if they have had it done since June.

Most likely scenario I reckon is that we've spoken in confidence to a player agent when doing a pitch and that agent has loose lips.

He's had an average year this year, but compare the start of his career to Sinclair's and he is miles ahead, not even close. Sinclair wasnt a gun for another 3 years after Flanders current stage of his career.

Cal Twomey mentioned it last week. And seeing how good his intel seems to be, it must have some legs.

Within a couple of days we were linked to Cmac, so I had assumed that's who it was.

Could be anyone.

Ok so this is not based on any mail but I have a theory - albeit unlikely and depends on a range of factors that I'm sure posters on here will give me shit about

We were reportedly interested in Clayton Oliver earlier in the season

Since then, its been reported that there is ZERO interest in Oliver

This can mean one of two things:

• he is genuinely cooked and his contract is too big for any club to absorb (the most likely scenario)
• he has already committed to a club, thus there is no need for his management to leak the information and the media have no idea (this falls in line with Saints wanting to keep it a secret)

Now I have no idea how we can accommodate his massive contract but who knows how big our salary cap really is. His contract ends in 2030 - when he is 33 yrs old. Could we add another 1-2 years and smooth out the deal? We did it with TDK but I understand its a different prospect here because of Oliver's off-field history. Getting him for potentially only a second round pick would be a bargain IF we can turn his career around...which I think is possible with our running program - if we can do it with Arie then hopefully we can do it with Clayts

I assumed the mystery mid was Cmac?
