2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Yeah, annoying for the oppo because they're good, but "most punchable"?

I have my doubts on any of them.

On one point of yours I do agree though:

After next year, plenty of Saints will be on thst list
Completely lost. What are you talking about - “punchable”?

Pretty sure original post was talking about the players we have which other teams would most like to pinch! ( not punch)

He played to hurt, using elbows, knees and fists regardless of whether the ball was in play anywhere near him. He showed no respect for opposition players by physically targeting those who were going well.

You can call that "tough" footy, or whatever, but he never seemed able to recognise better skill and talent without wanting to inflict some pain on them. For instance, to me there is an incomparable difference between Lenny Hayes' hard play and the way Hodge went about it.

We all have our preferences and approach but Hodge typified the Hawks unsociable, uncompromising and ruthless game, which ruined the beauty of the extraordinary skills required to play our game at the highest level. But, I hate the Hawks and Hodge is yet another reason why!
Wish we had a four time premiership dog in one of our teams.

Jeez, what were your thoughts on Stevie Baker?

I wonder if there are current Saints players that fans of other clubs would have on their list?

Higgins maybe?
King an outside shot
Perhaps Stocker, Phillipou and Caminiti

Not many, and none in the top echelon, I'd bet.

Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.
From what I have seen, only Richmond supporters seem to hate Higgins, Collingwood supporters hate Caminiti and Carlton supporters hate Silvagni. I don't think we have any widely disliked players.

Selwood was a whinger when things didn't go his way. Played almost his entire career, if not all, with a team playing finals. Four premierships. Captain. Yep all of that. He only played in a successful team. Yet if things didn't go his way on field, he didn't just suck it up and get on with it, he whinged like a little bitch. This, in the light of all his success, painted him as an entitled little twat. Can't stand him.
Haters gonna hate

I'm all for a bit of off-season positivity but calling Windy an elite two-way mid is pushing it. He's got some exciting attributes but he has a long way to go before being anywhere near elite.
Who’s better than him in the role?

Atkins check.

Who else?

Everyone loves to jump on Geelong's dick about how good their late pick drafting has gone, but we rarely get a mention, probably because of our early draft busts. Honestly, which group would you take:

Stk: Sinclair, Marshall, Wilkie, Hall, Caminiti, Sharman

Gee: Stewart, Atkins, Dempsey, Humphrey, Miers?

It's pretty dang close

Ours by a mile, we’re the flipping GOAT

In all seriousness though, the thing with Geelong is they are very good at developing and getting the most out of role players. Whilst, avoiding the draft and being able to attract big FA. They play their advantages well (and skirt outside the boundaries too).

The crazy good thing about our group is that Sincs, Marshall, Wilkie, and soon to be Hall, aren’t just role players, they’re stars other clubs are trying to poach for big bucks. Very fortunate to have them for balancing out the side, given the many years of drafting duds.

The original post was here.
Ok. Obviously completely misunderstood…
I thought you were talking about how many of our players other teams would pick ( to play) not pick to punch!

I say this without knowing anything about him at all. But with Leek staying it meant that Conor Stone will be moved to the rookie list.

Moreso just for the laughs, but imagine we grabbed him.

Is he any good?
He is quick, and tall, but that seems to be it. Not high production at AFL level so far, and I think from a lack of footy smarts. In saying that, I wouldnt be opposed to rookie listing him. IIRC Bombers were right into him before he re-signed last year. He had just won the Giants VFL BnF too, so must have something going for him.

Because he played his best season up in GC with no one watching people underrate him. He looked genuinely elite in 2024. If he can play like that Saints fans will be blowing their loads.
Reckon Kye Fincher is going to be a beauty too.
Could replace Sincs or even add to the midfield mix.
185cm- tough, clean, reliable kick & good mark for his size.

He was paid elite administrator money and his only footy department experience was in Ammos. He reviewed our list after being sacked as an AFL media boss. It was like getting blinded by a corporate big-wig over actually looking at his resume.
Bains before Lethlean both sabotaged us.

They both fancied themselves as List Management Gurus, whereas they were really just List Management Grifters living out boyhood fantasies to our Club's detriment.
