A girl at my daughters school ended her life this term over kids bagging her how she looks.

A bunch of old boomers who think bigotry is just a good old laugh, might want to think how they would feel if that was their grand daughter.
A student from my partners sons school took her own life this year, she was born he and was rejected by her family😭, she was 17.
Homophobia, racism, bigotry, sexism and stupid people are all problems that can be solved with compassion, education and inclusion.

Why do you think?

What, just a few extra investment properties and a chance to set himself up for life? As if he'd care about that. He really wants to spend his days just off the top rungs of the ladder at Carlton.

They’ve had access to top talent since their inception and did nothing with it. The secret to their success is that they finally have a coaching panel who is capable of getting them to play as a team.

We aren’t disadvantaged compared to them, we just need to make the most of the players we do have - which is something we haven’t done for over a decade
I take your point, it's definitely valid to say that the Suns are making a lot more of the talent they have available to them, and that they are playing good footy. It's also noticeable that they are getting a lot from players that may have been underestimated, like Ben Long. I'm really pleased to see him thriving there, he is more talented than perhaps he showed when he was with us. And is seemingly maturing into a much more consistent player!

I think the difference is in seeing how we can acquire the talent to be competitive with the top 6. The 2000/2001/2002/2003 talent influx set us up for a surprise crack around 2004/2005 and a good one in 2009/2010, but those came about through some good drafting, poor on-field results leading to higher picks, and even astute trading. It's much harder to see how St Kilda can achieve this in the current climate of multiple academies, compromised drafts, free agencies that seem to be a sink rather than a source for us, and hopefully not being close to the bottom of the ladder for 3 or 4 years.

But yes, making the most of what we've got, and especially making the most of the ones who can take the field, is a key. It feels like it happens sometimes but it's inconsistent at best.

They will be the next dynasty team unless other teams can gouge out their talent.

I hope Rowell leaves and king goes…if they all dig in and decided to stay for success, the completion is ****ed

And no one will give two ****s about a team that wins 3 in 5 years

500k a year playing a game that has a very limited window in which your body allows you to play…it’s a lot of money to throw away

And yet that’s what will likely happen. I half think the prez is just setting this up as an object lesson of why the smaller clubs fundamentally can’t compete for talent.

Been saying that about GWS for ever. The clubs have no supporters or energy.

I always thought Ben would make it, He was one of my favorites, Battle as well.
I reckon Ross would love to have Ben in his side.

To be honest, we’ve been saying that about GWS for years and they’ve yet to win one.
Let’s hope the plastic Suns have about as much success as the Giants have in winning the big one thus far.
(Besides, mean of me I suppose, but I intensely dislike Dimma, and I would hate for him to win one with them.)

I remember Hamill and Gehrig were well established at Carlton and West Coast at one stage, we made an audacious play for them that people fairly claimed was all about money (Blighty and the best of the Alves players helped for sure) and the rest is history.

TDK can go back to Carlton when his career finishes if he loves them so much. In the meantime, there is much money to be made and a legend to create.

GWS is also a talent factory. We grabbed Steele for a second round pick and nearly every Vic club would have pinched talent off them. Suns have been a bit worse at picking talent so have been less fruitful.

A smart club would say something privately about fairness while always keeping an eye on players that we can pick off. Brisbane and GC will have to lose players to fit their new kids.

Even father/son picks have been hit and miss. The good ones have been elite but plenty of spuds in there too.

As long as fair value or fairer value is paid it's not a problem to me.
