im in the camp saying yes to tdk for reason others have mentioned,we have tried and just cant get anyone else, thats with naz staying or going, hopefully staying

i guess the other side is saying build through the draft, that is all good

but if naz goes does that narrative change?he is the poster boy for building through the draft, the best by a country mile, yet we could lose him and if its to an adelaide club, well we all agree they have nothing much to offer, butters aside we are going to lose on the trade and no matter how much we beat our chests saying this threatening that,we will end up sucking eggs with crap picks and a spud or 2 to hang our hats on,while naz celebrates goals with jhf and burgoyne,or hits thilthorpe and fogarty on the chest with precision passes on their way to dual 50 goal seasons and fighting out the coleman

we got a free hit on tdk,im taking it

how about looking at tsatas and sheldrick?if we cant get ldu mccluggage rowell merrett callaghan worpel, then get 2 for the price of one and back our coaching staff to lift them to the level

“Port are considered the frontrunners” for Nas, according to FoxSports. And they reckon we’re keeping an eye on Blake Howes.

Very promising by the look of this debut clip.

Would be an upgrade on McLennan for depth and could be a Wilkie successor long term.

What's so exciting about Nas is this is his 4th season.

If he makes AA it places him in elite company for his age.

Very few make it within their first 3 seasons. It's been done occasionally (Ricciuto, Judd, Selwood, Bontempelli). Robert Harvey did in his 5th season but he joined the AFL at 16, so by age he would join that group. It's rare.

Many of the modern greats didn't make AA until much later.

Ablett Jr (6th season), Enright (8th), Dusty (7th), Neale (8th), Petracca (6th) and Swan (8th).

Wingard was AA in his second season

AFL.com.au mid season AA team:

Nas, Wilkie, Higgins all made it

If they continue through the back half, 3 Saints in AA would be the most since the previous Lyon era I reckon.

We do have genuine top tier talent now - -- those 3 plus Sinclair. Marshall's had a poor year by his standards but his best is very good, and I'm still optimistic King gets back there.

So 4 - 6 A graders. Compared to the Richardson era where, at times, we'd be lucky to have 1 or 2. But we had a lot of B graders in those days.

What's holding us back is the numerous inexperienced kids each week.

In another 12 or 18 months, if the kids have stepped up a bit, and the old guard is still performing and King is back, St Kilda could actually get very good very quickly.

Sinclair is probably our best player for pure consistency of performance still. Nas has taken his glory because he does it all with flair and moves like a panther. Actually Sincs is seriously unlucky not to be in the extended squad at least. Our lack of performance as a side probably cost him a spot.

Yep, Marshall is having a pretty average season but at his best he's a top 4 ruck in the AFL and Macrae is still absolutely in the conversation for being in the best 20 mids in the league. Was probably leading our B and F for the first part of the year.

The top end is looking a lot better now. It's the guys that would be stepping up around 100 games that are missing that is hurting us most. We have older high end then very inexperienced kids who's performance is fluctuating.

The good thing about injury is that we have uncovered a heap of youth that now look a lot closer. Caminiti is seriously looking a very high end KPB. Keeler has made one of the biggest leap in improvement I have ever witnessed in the last 2 weeks.

I'm genuinely optimistic about the next few seasons with where we have got the list to. We drafted well and drafted heavily. Even if they don't all make the grade they at least look on track.

Our list in experience and age looks more like Essendon and Richmond still but give it another year and some extra cohesion and we should see a surge in results.

They are both ball winning & marking players so I’m sure we could find a way to play both if TDK eventuated. Pretty handy utilities who could play forward/back & ruck.

TDK isn't actually a great mark. He spills a lot. His brother is an elite mark. He could play deep spiller forward and ruck part time though. Let King play leading out to the ball.

Indeed. We were a MUCH better team when we had both Ryder and Ro fit and firing, and Ro is much better/more accomplished now (albeit probably also more banged up), so I’m very confident it could work, if we have both.

Marshall was ordinary when Ryder played though. We looked better because Ryder taped to our advantage. Not sure that's TDK's strength to be honest. They are very similar types.

I'm going to stop posting about why we shouldn't take TDK- I've had a good run.

But if we assume he comes in, where does that leave the team?

If Marshall stays and everyone's healthy, with Keeler's development I'm not sure there's a spot in my starting 22 for De Koning to be honest :p

Keeler could play anywhere Wing ?

Beerenberg, daylight, then Masterfoods.
Wow White Crown is a flashback. They still make that?

MON BBQ and steak sauce.

And yes the crow is still around and still revolting.

Players who went with picks available to the Saints in that first period of time.
Dangerfield, Rioli, Harry Taylor, Rance, Luke Shuey, Zharakis, Dayne Beams , Dan Hannebery, Liam Shiels, Lycett, Gawn, Sam Reid, Roberton, Darling, Jeremy Howe, Jarryd Lyon.

They just had the goldfish mentality that because they were competitive, that's all they should care about and not worry about the future. Also i have to consider that those identifying talent were hopeless. When they drafted Winmar i thought they were taking the piss.

Just because...
Darling was never leaving WA according to most media reports.
How that trade instances went we did not have a second round for Beams/Hanners. We got Faz Ray from Doggies then tried to pinch Ayce, got Lynch and next pick was 47/48 when Beams & Hanners went 10 picks earlier. So '08 peeps were really just Zaha or Shuey instead of Lynch.

Owl/McEvoy was a high round DP as top 10, so it was really a win/win as he was always competent he just plied his work at the Hawks and Danger ended up leaving the Crows for the Cats, Cyril got the Hawks racism mafioso treatment, Ebert left SA to WA then came back to SA, Grimes stayed at the Dees but had the "bad back" curse, Tarrant was at North and never arrived at a station then you got into the Taylor & Rance to then go to the end of 1st round from a pick 9.

So fair to say for 07-08 period we had a highish pick and then a gap for the pay it forward special rnd2 and a majority of people around picks were more a 'if we didn't trade, if we didn't sell our round 2 pick if we didn't do X previously, we'd have been able to do more in compromised drafts. As this was also the mini draft and GWS and GCS entry drafts remember.

So bit disingenuous to say we were in the market for half of these people at the time. You were right about Winmar though, and '09 was just a clusterf in general since lost Ball for nothing, sold 16 for the hard R Essendon flog, yoinked Winmar from nothing then capped it off from getting the ankle reject from North.

I'm not too sure about how TDK and Marshall would best work but what you have said is a flat out lie.

Marshall finished fourth in our best and fairest in 2020 when we won a final.

Ryder finished eighth in the same season.

They worked excellently in tandem and both were a dangerous forward option.

I'm not saying TDK and Marshall would work the same, but you are definitely remembering incorrectly about Marshall and Ryder.
