Really took a big step up. Looking like another great value pickup.

Garcia went back to the vfl, got better, played with more confidence, and is now back in the AFL. thats what the VFL should be part of.

I like Naz, but at the same time we need to acknowledge our midfield is really really poor, Naz as a half back or wing does not move the needle if he stays. Because we’re always on the back foot in the midfield, everything seems like hard work, imagine we have a proper first ball winner like Neale, it takes massive pressure of the rest. That’s the reason for Naz wants to move and we can swing a deal to get Butters in resturn, we should really do it. It’s a win win. Let’s be honest, even if we have 2 Nas playing for us, does it really help our midfield? the answer is no.

Same goes for the ruck position. Marshall can’t give us an advantage in centre bounces /ball ups, it’s a big weakness.. Should look into this and get a good enough ruck, personally think TDK for $1.7M is madness, what would our other players think/do? Would rather swap Marshall for a slower but competent tap ruckman.

His meters gained stats are through the roof. The highest in the AFL.

Exactly right! Same can be said about Wilson. Both players needed to find form, they went back and dominated the VFL, then straight back in.

I’ve got mates who are supporters of various (and generally wildly more successful) clubs who are raving about Naz and genuinely envy us for having him. I’m not sure how much MORE he could be moving the needle for us tbh

I think the long term goal with Nas is he moves to full time midfield & Hastie becomes he's replacement so excluding any older players currently in midfield the group would be, Nas, Garcia, Phillipou, Boxshall, Henry with outside run from Wilson + Travaglia
This is of course all hypothetical and based off the idea that Nas will stay? I still don’t see pen to paper.

“Move the needle” the new KiCk iT LoNG is it

If the manager and club are discussing terms - which by all accounts they are - he'll stay.
Otherwise what's the point?
Hoping for 4 but I think more likely it'll be 2.

We might need to get our gauges looked at, the needle appears to be stuck on mediocre for 15 years.

"We need a new needle, people are missing the point.."

Who is on the chopping block at the end of the year do we think?

I'd have thought Jones, McLennan, Cordy, one of Heath/Boyd (maybe both) are all but gone. Schoenmaker, O'Connell, Paddy Dow, Jack Carroll, Byrnes also in danger but have probably just shown enough to get one more year, depends how cutthroat we want to be. Jimmy Webster the only possible retirement?

Psychologically this is great. Look at all the in-demand players re-signing and we have been able to pull a high quality player out of a big Victorian club. This will help bring other players to the club.

Unfortunately we can't afford them now.

Jones, McLennan, Cordy, Boyd are all definitely gone I think. Heath probably also gone, but depends what happens with Marshall.

I think Arie may get delisted but I hope he doesn’t. O’Connell I think gets an extension. Dow probably gets a contract, Carroll gone.

Byrnes will get an offer, Webster also an offer unless he retires.

Dow has 1 more year left on his contract.

I'd be surprised if O'Connell doesnt get another year. And I think Carroll is worth another year as well.

I would think there is a strong chance that Jones, Cordy and McLennan do not get new contracts. It also depends on other movements.

Do we see Marshall, Steele and possibly Howard move on as trades? Are these trades done with future picks instead of 2025 picks?

If Marshall moves then Heath may stay a bit longer.
