North got picks 2 and 3 and port's future first for JHF. I can't remember exactly but I feel like he was a PSD threat? not sure but he was deadset on leaving and North still got those picks. I just don't see how port can facilitate the move unless Nas goes full BPD on Ross, which I can't see happening.

If we're still spudding it up in two years however...
That’s misleading . North gave up pick 1 in that scenario so they really gave up JHF and pick 1 for pick 2,3 and a future first … was under tbh

And port got away with pick 8 a future first and some change for JHF

With no hope of playing finals this season, I really find it odd that NWM, his management and the club haven't sorted this saga out by now. Looks a tad unprofessional.

I guess, a la Vossy and TDK, when RTB plays NWM in the forward pocket we can probably assume he's gone, though he'll still probably kick six goals and win the game for us. 😄

Why? they might want to see how everything pans out he might win the B&F or poll well in the Brownlow which might add $$$ to a contract he's year isn't over awards mean $$$ to players & managers.

Anyone see TDK copping the boos last night? 🤨
The collingwood cheer squad sang the saints song when he was in the goalsquare last week.

I think Carlton supporters are just ****ing furious about everything at the moment.

Just meet him halfway and play our home games in Horsham .... where the local team is the Saints .... we wouldnt have to change any stadium branding

Being an ex Horsham bloke myself, there are/were 3 teams there in the top league. Saints, Demons and United (tigers colours). United folded about 12 years ago. Saints, not unlike us made a number of grand finals but couldn't win until going back to back about 10 years ago. They were a former district league club that were very successful and promoted into the main league in the 80s from memory.

Darcy Tucker, Jarrod and Tom Berry and Joel Freijah are recent graduates to afl from the saints. Horsham demons produced Seb Ross, Jake Lloyd, Ben Hobbs and Adam Goodes (not surprisingly a power house who won about 10 flags in a row).

Some great names from this league including Doug Wade, Roy Cazaly and Tim Watson to name just a few.

Basketball is equally successful there. The Bruce brothers (Shaun and Aaron) are/were nbl stars along with Mitch Creek. Aaron and Mitch both played for the boomers. Not much to do in Horsham if you don't play sport!

Voss is doing us a huge favour having him rot in the fwd line.

1. Less injury risk
2. It will make it even more obvious to sos that the right move is to get a half decent return on marshall and move him on when tdk comes in.

We are 4 years off flag contention- marshall wont be involved in that if he stays, tdk meanwhile will still be a key player.

Swapping one for the other and pocketing whatever we can get for roma is the way to go.

The Port list management team aren’t doing their jobs in that case.

They have all the negotiating power. All they have to do is say to Nas “don’t worry mate just nom us and we’ll get it done”. Then offer us vaguely acceptable peanuts and watch us talk tough before eventually accepting their shit because it’s better than nothing.

We have zero negotiating power in that situation to say “Butters or gtfo” because Nas can just not sign the ****ing contract.

Explain to me why they wouldn’t do that?
That’s exactly what’s going to happen. Unfortunately.

He either needs a rest or to be dropped so he ends his career on 99 Carlton games instead of 100.

I think motorcycle champion Kevin Magee is from around there, too.

And that’s why this game, and its supporters, are not mature enough to announce player movement during the year.

The "plan" as we all sort of knew it was supposed to be finals this year, build into 26, challenge in 27.

In reality weve lost a year due to injuries, form and whatever else.

If we keep Nas weve lost a year, we get TDK, trade Roma and maybe Steele. Get Pou and King healthy with a year of development in Garcia, Wilson, Tobie, Tauru etc. 26 should be low end top 8 target. 27 we build and look at what FAs might help up. 28 and onward we should be challenging (with some luck).

If we lose Nas honestly im not sure we should bother with TDK. Trade Marshall (and anyone else over 30 except Wilkie should be avilable for the right deal), do the ruck merry go round for some stop gap for Dodson and Keeler and just draft. 5 years plus before were any good.

Generally speaking the NRL supporters dont do this stuff and (as an NRL supporter myself) we are not at all mature.

I think (as we see in here with NAS) the not knowing is as frustrating as the losing the player. If NAS had announced he was off to Port next year wed have grieved and moved on already.

In alot of ways the AFL doing this stupid super secret shit with player movement harms the fans and in reality they only do it so they can sell trade week radio ads and shit.

Rightfully so. If a player announced they were leaving St Kilda mid year, I'd want them playing in the VFL for the rest of the year. If they're moving on - their development can get stuffed

Good output for someone on 800k a year, not 1.7 a year.
You know, we need to get over it.
He’s a FA. We’re getting him for free draft pick-wise, and we need to spend the money.
He’s also a position of need and the right age when you consider Roma’s age and where we are in the premiership window.
Great timing for him and hopefully he’ll repay the faith.
Last time we paid a fortune for a broken-down body who barely got on the track.
TDK will give us many years. Good luck to him.

Alright... perhaps i was wrong.

I guess it depends on where youre at as a club. If we were top 4 and Nas was leaving obviously youd play him, where we are at its obviously an option not to play him, makes no real difference either way.

If he has already made up his mind then why wouldnt you want to know? Does it make the back end of the year any less relevant if we find out in September he wants to go?

Tbh honest, I think I’d rather just know about NAS now, rather than this waiting around for another 6 weeks. Even if he’s going.

And the whole footy world knows that Tdk is gone. Just announce it and be damned. That way Tdk isn’t playing under stress - really, he’s well within his rights to make whatever career move he wants - Voss can play him or not however he sees fit, and the world moves on.

I get what you’re saying about the media - which in itself is the problem as there is so damn much of it for one national game, but we all need to harden up.
