Ummmm I just got transported to the multiverse. If Jack was staying, itd be Weitering Id trade.
Unfortunately Weiters dragging bottom lip brings him undone.Just part of modern zone defensive schemes. I agree that Weiters gets caught out on occasion but he's by a mile the best KPD option we've got and it's up to the team ahead of him to slow the ball movement of the opposition to give him time to impact and get across to assist the others.
He also gets blocked prolifically by opposition players and gets little assistance from his teammates in that regard.
This is ridiculous. Jack is not in the same universe as Weitering. If Jack was staying, itd be Weitering Id trade.
I'm talking about his defending this season. It's been horrible.

Not in 2025Somebody tell me when Weiters (one of the most accountable defenders in the game) all of the sudden became Darcy Moore lmao?
Other than Sam Taylor you won't find a single KPD in the comp who's better at clamping an opponent.
Or how often his opponent is far enough that it's no longer a one on one. That stat is flawed. That only accounts for one on one's kicked to a contest. Not how many times his direct opponent has beaten him to the ball.
Exactly. Look at the young forwards coming up. Caddy, Logan Morris, Georgiades.Thats why SOS and Haynes were fantastic for us this year. They have the mobility to go with a Jack Gunston/Jeremy Cameron type.
Don’t know if you’ve noticed but the whole team has been seriously out of form the entire seasonIn 2024 his 1-on-1 contest was the best of any defender in the competition with a loss rate of only 7.5%. I'd call that a lock down defender every day of the week...
Our team defence needs to improve.
You'll notice that he's often the last line of defence so he has to guard space to an extent because the kick could go over the back..
Football is not just played as man on man all over the park like the old days. Very different game with zones and tactics.
Whitlock leading up at the ball like that would have beaten any defender in the comp. That's on the ease and space at which they were able to bring the ball through the middle.
they are all 3rd talls... except maybe the most latter, by default.Exactly. Look at the young forwards coming up. Caddy, Logan Morris, Georgiades.
No way can Weitering keep up or play on these forwards.
i think yoiu meant shitverseUmmmm I just got transported to the multiverse.
Shane Rogers, is that you?If Jack was staying, itd be Weitering Id trade.
Kicking goals isn’t the only way to help and inspire your teammates, pressuring the backmen helps the rest of the team further up the field, laying tackles and heaven forbid getting frees from them inspires teammatesAgree he has been lacking here. But I think this has a lot to do with his mentality.
Has seemed frustrated a lot of this season
I think it's just a reaction to 2024 where Weitering did play more accountable & his direct opponent would always then become a decoy. Got to get the balance right. If you can’t see weiters has been down in 2025 , you probably need your eyes checked … I feel maybe his motivation has been down like most of our gun players …he is too good of a player to have multiple down years so I expect a better 2026. as someone said above the only thing I wish he did more was respect his opponent more … he allows them to get a cheapie mark and goal to often.
This. They haven’t been able to get it right and hence he looks frustrated.I think it's just a reaction to 2024 where Weitering did play more accountable & his direct opponent would always then become a decoy. Got to get the balance right.
Wish he wouldn't give up on some contests so early though.
I was going to post a reply to this....and forgot what your post was about...People on this board seem to have bloody short memories

Totally agree. Weiters covers several forwards week in week out. He is mopping up everyone else's shoddy work, cleaning up ground balls, out marking opponents, often lone hand in defensive 50. When he gets caught it is usually in a piggy in the middle situation where there should've been pressure up the ground, or there should've been a ready handover (e.g. MM to follow a leader out).In 2024 his 1-on-1 contest was the best of any defender in the competition with a loss rate of only 7.5%. I'd call that a lock down defender every day of the week...

Here's a photo of Weiters against Port ... Doesn't look overweight to me

True ... Weiters doesn't appear to be 'bulked up' too much to me in the above pic ... imo.Thinking someone has bulked up too much isn’t the same as being overweight.
NWM and TDK and the rest little leaguersInteresting news for Blues fans just dropped. Nasiah signs on at Saints for $2M per year. First ever $2M player.
Surely they can’t now pay $3.7M for two players.
