If 49ers lose, Rams win -= How does 49ers fall to 6th seed if they have equal division & a better conference record than the Rams?
If the 49ers lose to the Rams and the Rams win against the Cardinals, both teams would have a 12-5 record. In this scenario, the tiebreaker would first consider the head-to-head record, which is a tie. Then, it would look at the division record, where both teams would be 4-2. The Rams' record in common games against the Cardinals would be considered, and if the Rams' record is higher, they would secure the No. 5 seed, while the 49ers would fall to No. 6.

So, they don't look at the Conference record? Ouch!

common games tiebreaker is ahead of conference win %

Common opponent record currently is 8 wins each, but a loss to Seattle and win against Cardinals would give the Rams a 9 vs 8 edge
