As far as this season is concerned, it’s no longer an issue. We just need to win three in a row now, percentage is irrelevant.

If Gold Coast had kicked 1 more goal against Port last week we would need to have beaten Melbourne by about 50 points more than we did to stay in the top 4.

The difference between finishing 4th and 5th was miniscule.

Had Gold Coast fallen over the line last week against Port, we would be facing the prospect of an EF against Hawthorn.

Thank goodness it worked out the way it did and we have a qualifying final to think about.

We didn’t lose any games against the bottom 9 sides. They did. There’s part of the difference explained.

We made fourth because we won more games than GC . Pretty simple.
