Nope, Geelong never went back to backWasn't that the same as Duckwood
Smashed them earlier in the year - so you are overstating their superiorityMate, you are ignoring what my point.
Pies need to match or reduce the gap offensively with Lions to stand a chance.
Pies scoring 100 points against a bad team because that bad team is easy to rebound from is not the same as matching up with Lions, who are very very potent attack wise.

oh yeah I need to get off the pissNope, Geelong never went back to back

Then they smashed us twice in a roll.Smashed them earlier in the year - so you are overstating their superiority
And they outclassed Pies twice in a row... at MCG.Smashed them earlier in the year - so you are overstating their superiority
A pre gf bye would only help the lions. It would have been a 100 point smashing.Cats didn't even put up a fight.
No doubt Chirs Snott will blame not having a pre-GF bye.
Today was a smashing. Then they smashed us twice in a roll.
They’re an upcoming dynasty, it’s okay to say that.
Last touch rule has dramatically reduced stoppages in the SANFL - so mid depth will become less influential.I’d argue our biggest hole is the midfield
We have
- Nick
- Beau
That’s it. That’s all we have in terms of genuine and consistent centre bounce performers.
Long isn’t quite up to the standard
De Goey can randomly go missing (like last week)
Pendles is a touch too old and slow (and we really need to stop relying on a near 40 year old)
Crisp isn’t a true midfielder
Josh could be a great midfielder but we don’t use him there
Perryman seems like he could be handy but again, we haven’t been using him there
Now that I think about it, selection is also one of our biggest weaknesses
Yes I know mate. And they outclassed Pies twice in a row... at MCG.
Might be a bit quiet at Vicky Park 's house tonight.

Cats didn't even put up a fight.

Well yes.
When I say Attack, I didn't say Forwards...
Pies need someone who can get to the ball first or break through defenses in the middle creating entries constantly from the midfield.... hence attacking from the midfield.
I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Pies need guns in the midfield who can break defense, create plays and create scoring opportunities.... outside of Naicos.
Some Pies fans here are simply one eyed supporters. Then they smashed us twice in a roll.

There is an alternate GF where we may have beaten Geelong, but we would not have beaten the Lions. We got them on their way up in ‘23, but they were outstanding today and congratulations to them.
Geelong was a mirage. So much smug crap out of that club this year - from the coach on down. The rudeness, the bratty behaviour, the arrogance. Some of their stars were completely outclassed today, and found wanting in the worse possible way.
Do they need to rebuild too?
Yup.We need to build Beau’s tank. ASAP.
Been saying it for 2 years
We might have stopped a fourpeat, like we did against Richmond in 2018 and the pretend Magpies did against the Lions in 2004, and like we did against the Dees in 1958.Not enough of the wider footballing public respects what we achieved in 2023.
That Grand Final was one of the all time great performances from us.
Lions having gone back to back has enhanced our achievement.
He watched that sort of shit all year from the goal squareWonder if Curnow will change his mind after watching that shit today.
Smashed? Lost by 28and 29 points. Then they smashed us twice in a roll.
They’re an upcoming dynasty, it’s okay to say that.
I have a feeling Geelong realised that their midfield wasn't going to be good enough by the mid year bye. They went for a very risky plan of playing a double tag in the midfield. The really obvious thing to come out of today is that sides are going to need 3, possibly 4 quality midfielders to actually be able to take on Brisbane's mids. Geelong needs a couple more quality mids just like us and few other serious challengersThere is an alternate GF where we may have beaten Geelong, but we would not have beaten the Lions.
