Pies may have stopped a Lions 4-peat next year.
Lions will be a stronger team in 2026.
Ironically, getting better with the injured players coming back from injury rather than the overrated free agents they're getting.
But every year is a new challenge - nothing's guaranteed.
Maybe they have player unrest from not getting enough game time; for example, or being underpaid.
I agree they look set for a long run of success, but AFL's a tough gig every year.

There is an alternate GF where we may have beaten Geelong, but we would not have beaten the Lions. We got them on their way up in ‘23, but they were outstanding today and congratulations to them.

Geelong was a mirage. So much smug crap out of that club this year - from the coach on down. The rudeness, the bratty behaviour, the arrogance. Some of their stars were completely outclassed today, and found wanting in the worse possible way.

Do they need to rebuild too?
Look, I’m the first to say I don’t like Mr. Park, but take it easy on the guy.

Credit where credit is due. Top team and congrats to the Lions making 3 GFs in a row and winning 2 of them.

But don’t think (even with the players they have coming in) they can win again in 2026. I mean, to climb the mountain 4 in a row and win again.

Even their Super team of early 2000s couldn’t.

That 4-peat still very much on the cards.

This is back to early 2000s super team now, they're going to be very tough to stop the next two years. Last two have been a bit down and they've won two flags. They should be expecting to be better in 2026 and 2027.

Every year is tough and their no fait accompli, but strong chance.
Playing in 5 straight granny’s may be a bridge too far. Let’s see.

Absolutely, you need a lot of things go your way and it didn’t for us. Pendles calf, Howe, McCreery, De Goey, Schultz constantly injured all year, Hill MIA and Mihocek playing injured.

Could’ve and should’ve been our year but wasn’t.
There's a lesson we should have learnt in 2011, but clearly haven't.
Don't pick injured players.
Don't pick injured players.
Don't pick injured players.

JDG and McCreery not full throttle inside mids. They have enormous skills on the outside.
Long certainly, with another preseason I think has huge potential.
But we need another guy to go into stoppages with him.
I don’t think Long can get any fitter or stronger for a footy player. Already the best rig at our club.

Maybe. But we don't know who may yet leave this group.

Ah Chee hasn't re-signed & has been linked to Crows. Starcevich was linked to other clubs, but could just as easily be forced into retirement with his concussion issues.

Who knows how Allen & Draper will go & how they'll fit in with their other 2 ruckmen & 3 tall forwards.

Geelong will go all out for Curnow now. Marshall for sure as Stanley was a joke.

We have two superteams and Hawks set to become a third.

We REALLY need to bolster our midfield. That is a clear difference between us and them.

Cats aren't a super team. Their main draw, Dangerfield, had a stinker and can't carry their midfield anymore.

Marshall I guess they get, Curnow unlikely.

That's what I'm saying. Injured players always play finals. It's only when a team loses that it's a "problem". There wasn't any issue with us playing these two.
Dunkley has been playing with a grade 3 syndosmosis, Neale on one leg, McCluggage has been playing with a MCL injury..I'm sure there are others. Likely on both sides.

I think this explodes the Chris Scott is the best coach in the league myth.

He was gifted a flag in his first year when he inherited an already great side that pretty much coached itself, and was ably assisted by what was going on at Collingwood.

It then took him until 2022 to win his next Flag, despite never really bottoming out. In the years between, the only Grand Final he got to was the 2020 Covid Cup.

He's a good coach, not a great one.
