2025 player moves - ins and outs

Free uniform/subs/boots definitely helps and has been the go since Jesus played full back for Nazareth…it actually broke up my old junior side..in the very early 90’s!

It’s not the core reason you leave though. Majority of people don’t leave a club they are happy with for free subs etc.

There is usually something that also has them disengaged with their current club to be interested in an offer like that.

Transfers updated on the EFNL site only working on a laptop though and not on my phone

How about just not approaching other clubs juniors. There’s no excuse for it and indefensible.
You’re questioning why they’re leaving The Basin but aren’t asking why Boronia doesn’t have kids coming through.
Boronia fielded 11 junior teams last year (8 boys and 3 girls teams) but a massive reason as to why they didn’t have juniors or have struggled to have junior teams in the past, is due to the Basin among other clubs, pinching a bunch of their players throughout the years. If most of these new under 19’s players are/were unhappy at the Basin and/or other clubs, then they have every right to improve their footy by moving to a better and more professional club like Boronia.

Are you on Boronia's committee?

Love to know what begley is on over and under the table? Let me guess his mates play

Over 10 players from the basin 17.5 team had pervious played at a different club.
People making it sound like the basin have had all the kids from Auskick when in reality they’ve sold the kids the dream of A division juniors and now the kids don’t wana play div 3 19s.

He also only played 6 games in 2024. I dare say he's well past his best. And I don't see Norwood being in any different of a position in div1 this year than The Basin were last year in div2 with him playing.

35ish, only 6 games in 2024.

This is a red flag for norwood. Was a gun in his day but you have to be a truly dedicated player to keep standards up well into your 30s

But hardly in a position to pick + choose who they get.

I may have have missed it but haven't really seen it discussed. And bloody good on them for managing this, but how does Balwyn add Ben Silvagni, Lachie Young and Jarrod Lienart. Surely their cap and points are at capacity. I'd assume some are playing for employment

Some of this I agree with (clubs dont own players/19.5 year olds) but lets just call it for what it is, Boronia are blatantly headhunting another clubs u19s, too scared to even post where they came from in the "signing posts" because everyone knows they've just pinched them from the basin. Obviously don't have the right setup for their own juniors so have resorted to poaching others. Once a few leave and gain momentum its tough to stop.
You must have got under their skin. Just poached another junior to play in their u19s and this time mentioning where he is from. And yes it’s The Basin

Its pretty laughable that there is supposedly equalisation measures in place, yet you win the Premier flag and you can bring in two former AFL players, plus a quality VFL and a quality SANFL player.

Points system possibly not having the desired effect.

they have lost a few, obviously not the quality coming in but five have gone out 4 have come in....the points will catch up with them as it will at ED. both these sides will be picking sides based on points.

There was a post on the North board that Lienert is only going to play for Balwyn around when his VFL coaching commitments allow him to do so.

They are taking the piss out of the system and just doing what VAFA clubs do. Providing all sorts of benefits outside the cap including jobs, house renovations and paying their spouses to play netball.

The system is a joke and administrators do nothing about it. The rich clubs manipulate the system whilst the lesser clubs struggle and go to the wall. The administrators running community football have a lot of questions to answer.

Really? Give us examples of what Balwyn is doing …. players names and what jobs? . What’s wrong with giving a player a job ? Good management. Lesser clubs should take notes

It’s an issue that has a relatively easy fix in this modern age. All clubs submit contracts and you’d assume they’ed be entered into a data base. When a player transfers a notable difference in match payments should raise a red flag.

They are all vastly reduced figures on contracts to begin with so comparisons would show nothing. It’s the sign ons, cash payments and other “inducements “ that are undetectable. Cheats will cheat with no conscience . Can’t stop it .

Once a payment history is created I’m pretty sure there will be a starting point to work from.

But that’s all it is a starting point.
There needs to be concrete evidence, with cash or other incentives that can be difficult to prove.
There isn’t an unlimited budget to chase these red flags. The current structure in
leagues don’t have time. The AFL don’t care and leagues would prefer to spend on tangible assets.
