Weitering was the first player taken off Georgiades.

I was amazed he went to him. Weitering is a strength player, like Stephen May who had 7-8? kicked on him by Georgiades who is a lead up player. Did none of our coaches see the Melb v Port game? We really don't study our opposition.

JSOS looked even more hampered than Weitering. He's either injured or come back to earth in a big way.

Brad Scott apparently never played kids either.

Times and situations change for the better of the club
His time at North...?

He was restricted by board interference that wanted him to be perpetually 10th or better at the worst. They told him they couldn't afford a rebuild and constrained him to playing seniors and continuously bringing in older top up guys instead of rebuilding.

He did quite well considering but the not playing youth tag was unfair for him when he asked to drop down the ladder and Do a list refresh more than once and was always told no.

Yes, he didn't look right and struggled. McGovern would have been my choice for Georgiades, speed and spoil, that's your job for the night, unfortunately McGovern was rostered off this week.

Just watched the first half. Not sure why.
We simply can't kick. Tackling pretty poor also. But our kicking is horrendous. Worst in the league by far.
Port had something like 10 Intercept marks (to our 1) at half time.
Oh, and the closer we get to goal our kicking gets worse, if that's possible.

When I saw Cripps close up last night toss the coin, his eyes were red, obviously still ordinary from his virus, couldn't run and was hampered by what he had.

If there was any ounce of selection integrity, he wouldn't have been selected, anyone who has tried to compete after "isolation" with a virus knows the body won't perform. Pathetic call from the MC

Noticed this as well.

This MC continually select unfit, unwell or injured players....it's unacceptable.

Edited for accuracy.
The only players of our so called star group that have been remotely good this year are Hewett and Cerra. Silvagni also has been really good in the new role and Ollie has improved. That’s it.
Yeh I agree.

How many games in the past 2 years have we actually had Cripps, Curnow, McKay, Walsh & TDK play in together?

This year we know the answer is basically zero. To me McKay is obviously so critical to how we structure and play, we bloody miss him a lot.

What's coming up ... for us folks

Coll'd
Brisbane
Melbourne
Hawks
Freo
Suns
Port
Ess

That's ^^ a lot more pain right there folks!

Pick a win? ....... maybe Essendon to finish the season off on a high? Well done lads...

Voss won't be gone ... who would put their hand up to face Pies and Brissy in their first 2 as Coach?

Edit

For the Optimists ... God Bless 'em...

With an 8 match winning streak ... Carlton should make finals :thumbsu:

We are beaten before we even step on the green stuff at the Adelaide Oval when we play Port or the Crows

2025
V Port Qtr time score 34 to 3, half time 58 to 9
V Crows Qtr time score 33 to 14, half time 55 to 22

2023 v Crows Qtr time score 51 to 13, half time 65 to 34

2022 v Crows - 8 goals to 3 after half time

2021 v Port - Marc Murphy's 300th and last game - we let them kick 20 goals in a row

The only good win was against Port last year.

It's not personnel, its mindset

Mcgovern should have been on him from the Get go.
Still cant understand how he wasnt changed on to him when Weitering was changed out.

Last season at this time of year we were in 2nd place on the ladder. Media talking point.

TDK was in unbelievable form, Cripps in Brownlow form, Harry was good, Charlie holding his own, Weitering was solid, Walsh was good.

This season, they are all average for some reason or another. TDK has been no where near what he was, our slump last season came when he went down with ribs and foot.

This is how reliant we are on these 6 blokes and our game plan revolves around them, rather than a structured system. We rely on natural talent more than a structured system.

Of course this would upset any side when your top talent isn't doing the job but it shouldn't make your side incompetent.

Should have dropped himself too but we know Patrick, he'll play with a broken leg if you let him. MC needed to make the hard call, but failed.

This 💯.
How many times over the years have we allowed him to play not right. Guy played a whole season with a broken back, and we can't give him a week of with the flu??. Weitering should not have played either of a 5 day break with an ankle.

0 depth, not even a midfield emergency of note was listed. Shows how bad our list is when they think a 10% Cripps is better than what we have.

And for Cripps, good leadership is knowing when you are actually going to be more a hindrance to the team and sit it out.

They are the captain and vice captain though, part of good leadership is knowing when to step up and when to step back.
We may have lost with a patched up team but we will never know because the old favorites are always in the team, form and fitness have no bearing.
