yeah the game may have been short on highlights and entertainment, but it was a hard, tough contest.
Saints brought heat and we were able to match.

Normally we wilt, so have to give the boys some credit for this one.

Honestly thought it was one of the worst umpired games of footy ive ever watched, and im not saying it favoured one team or another. I just wish they had paid around 10 holding free kicks around the ball in the first quarter, because by the end of the game, every contest is just 20 guys in bear hugs and it was a joke.

Just watching the highlights, and saw something I didn't realise about Lord's goal in the last quarter.

Lord started the play on half back, where, under pressure, he drilled an inside kick to Curnow. He then gut runs at high speed from D50 to F50, turns and makes a lead so that Harry can hit him up with a pass. THEN, still has the composure to go back and hit the long range shot.

A huge play from a young fella when the game hung in the balance.

Bit weird. Only way I can see this working out is one coach giving NWM 5 votes and the other giving McKay 5 votes, with neither player receiving a vote from the opposing coach.

It is why the coaches award is a joke. Ross channelling McRae
I still think it's the best of the awards, but it's unfortunate that votes like this happen.

Wanganeen-Milera, I thought he had a decent game.
But of his 30 touches, only 5 were contested, and he ended up with only 4 score involvements, but 6 clangers.

He’s been sensational the last 8 weeks, it just beggars belief how bad he was in round 1. Complete head scratcher wtf moments.
Gov ,Weiters and Haynes just didn't seem to have any chemistry that night flying for the same balls and spoiling each other . As the pressure grew the whole side just choked.

That problem seems to have sorted itself out.

there's a great clip on afl (i think) that highlights the play.... then he almost seemed surprised when H kicked it to him!

I found it a little interesting that when H had the ball around centre and was waiting for a target inside f50….

ollie presented in plenty of space and waving his arms about but H didn’t appear interested in kicking it to him…

instead H waited a bit longer and passed it to lord who turned up somewhere around near Ollie some time later…🤔
