I also have Whitfield out with the bye. Smith out and a couple of players I don’t own going low should is helping thus far to ensure I don’t give up to many points this weekend. 🤞
My plan was always Short to Freijah all week .....in the end, I just couldn't anti-pod Smith

This late Smith news, prevented me from getting Freijah's ton :( .....Shazbot !!

My trades were Garcia to Hall and Flynn to Smith.
With Smith out, I can trade him to Lindsay, or give Garcia one more chance and bank the cash for next week. Hate him in my side though.
Also need to decide whether to use a boost to grab SDK and get rid of Paton (two rookies currently on field) and strengthen my structure.

Long story short, is it worth using a boost on SDK? I’m a bit worried about picking him.

Alternatively, I could wait and get Freijah next week.

Thoughts?

I don’t think sdk is worth a boost

Settled on

Flynn -> Knevitt @ flex
Leake -> Trainor (not sure Leake hangs around, Trainor passed the eye test, and going a week early as next week I suspect there will be more than 3 better trades so it’s a calculated risk)

If Knevitt sub, I’ll swap to Lindsay. Gives me 110k in the bank for now & opens up to go Saad upwards rather than downwards

Have ended up with

Flynn > Knevitt
Harcia > Lindsay

$210k in the bank, next week will jump on Hall if he impresses again for my worst performing $200k rook and make a decision on LAshcroft.

Should have enough money to grab anyone in defence for Perryman, alternatively could grab Freijah and build the war chest even more to 300k plus and move on Prior if he stinks it up again.

Who are your potential must haves next week? Original plans were Day, Flynn and Hastie to SDK, Levi and Smith this week. With Smith out tossing up holding Hastie or boosting and trading to Lindsay to free up a trade next week. Just deliberating if I’ll need three trades next week. Players that come to mind next week are Lindsay, Frejah (if Short sucks), Callaghan (if Oliver is disappointing) and also Smith if named. Any I’m missing? Hall also on the radar this week but not sold on his JS.

What you are missing is the carnage that will again between now and next Thursday lol

As Uncle Jiska has said and I concur, there is no 'must have' players just yet.

If Max Hall comes out and goes 74 + 80 then he is a true must have. Alternatively, if LAshcroft comes out with a 60 after his 84, he may not be the must have that everyone is stating he is at the moment.

You could make a case for guys like Freijah + Callaghan but as they're not rookies and they fit in the 370-440k bracket, you'd most likely be picking them as D6 and M8 premos and not selecting them as stepping stones. That would be case dependent and on a team by team needs basis.

Unfortunate as it is and as hard as it is to have foresight on these things, it's all a gamble on how many trades you use this week and how that impacts your trades for next week.

Interesting that Flynn was named as first ruck in Thursdays' team with Williams on the extended bench and then was just cold cut on Friday... nasty.

He was shockingly uncompetitive against Witts and you could see Mini sharpening the knife on the quick video grabs of the coaches' box.

The writing is on the wall. Flynn to the bin.

That’s true. Must haves was probably the wrong terminology, more like players you’d really like in your team. I only really view high scoring rookies as true must haves generally. Pretty confident in Levi’s scoring ability if he stays in the team, also a bit of a rage trade seeing as I had him at Flex all preseason but changed to Flynn when it was announced he would be the Sub.

Was going to trade Ferryman to Baz Sniff lastnight but didnt which might have been a blessing. Now with the Bailey Smith news i would like some advise on how to try any fix this mess of a team. Now thinking of getting SDK instead but unsure.
$21,000 in the bank
Option 1
Flynn to SDK
Garcia to Lindsey (Leaves me $8,300)

Option 2
Flynn to SDK
Garcia to Hall (Leaves me $46,900)

Thoughts?

Any reason Holmes is in the guts?

I'd be tempted with some DPP action to move Flynn, sub Paton to FLEX, get Holmes back into your backline to give you a loop at D6 between Prior/Reid/Trainor and get Lindsay.

Then move on Harcia to Hall and give you $250k next week for an upgrade. Could then move Paton to your FWD bench, and either play Hewett/Kako/Tsatas in the flex spot.

If Tatsas is sub, will pull the trigger to Lindsay.

If that doesn't happen, will probably be Flynn to Lindsay and then we watch Levi rack em up

With the Smith news and Perryman hold, I'm faced with picking a FWD rookie if I want to turf Garcia, as I don't have enough to go up to any FWD premos (who are they anyway?).

Don't have Kako so am thinking Flynn + Garcia -> Lindsey and Kako, which gives me a $230k warchest for next week.

Expected trades next week:
Perryman -> DEF
Washcroft -> Callaghan/Cerra
Hastie/Paton -> rookie correct

Yep Flynn has to go, can't have 270K clogging up the flex without knowing if he is playing at all or in a job share if he does. Could take 6 weeks to get a price rise if he does return
AND ...even then, scoring a mid 85 ave ....you don't make much money on Flynn ....might scrape $90-$100K

I've ended up with

Perryman > Lindsay
Flynn > Stewart

Leaving exactly $0 in the kitty, would have preferred Rankine but I was $600 short.

Tsatas and FOS get another run.
