Just for fun, trade Humphrey for petracca then grab merrett with 7 +8 and hawks end up with neither.
Rumour doing the rounds at the moment is Merrett will request a trade to Hawthorn tomorrow. If that's true, you'd think Humphrey is far less likely to request a trade.

We want some muscle to come in and support them (aka. Humphrey). I don't know why Cameron is being so pig headed about it.
Welcome (back) to being a middle of the pack (or lower) team. It’s how it works.

Players want to leave you and big names don’t want to come until you’ve proven you are on the up, so you take the draft picks you can. Trust us, we know. We were in that cycle for a long time. It sucks.

Now it is our turn to prey on the lower ladder clubs (sorry) and try and strong-arm ourselves into the best position.

If Hawks were prepared to trade some of their starting 18 players it would be possible.. That would be assuming GC were at all prepared to move Bailey which they genuinely may not be.
If Hawks were willing to let go players like Lewis, Scrimshaw, MacKenzie we’d get enough first rounders to put together a good offer.. That’s a lot of if’s and I’d personally doubt it pans out that way..

To land Humphrey would be a big ask. We rate him highly, and his potential to be far higher, so would require a LOT in trade.

We'd be looking for more than a starting 18 player, he'd need to be young, walk up start (top 6-10) and playing a position we want to fill (and there's not a lot of them).

I dare say you wouldn't be in a rush to part with such a player.

Christian Petracca

Petracca will get to Gold Coast this week, and no, it won’t include Bailey Humphrey going to Melbourne, or any other Victorian club. The Suns have been adamant from the moment Humphrey was photographed walking The Tan with Steven King and Nathan Jones that they would not trade him. Gold Coast are prepared to trade both of their top-10 picks (currently selections seven and eight) for Petracca. That will be the nub of the deal that gets done, and there will be some shuffling of other picks. The Suns still have picks 15, 18, 29, 36 and 52, with more potentially coming in for Connor Budarick and Brayden Fiorini, to match bids on their academy players.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan

Gold Coast’s board are being kept abreast of the club’s plans to secure Ugle-Hagan on a very tight contract with behavioural clauses that protects the club. However, there has been no time frame put on when the 23-year-old is signed. Assuming the deal proceeds, Ugle-Hagan is likely to command a token future pick at the trade table before the Bulldogs and his management discuss the financial terms of his departure, given he was contracted until 2026. There was some talk the Connor Budarick trade would be tied to Ugle-Hagan, but it appears the pick 37 the Bulldogs will gain in a pick swap with the Giants (pick 12 for picks 14 and 37) will be used in the Budarick trade. Budarick is likely to join the Dogs well before Ugle-Hagan’s deal is done.

Essendon will trade for Gold Coast free agent Brayden Fiorini to avoid diluting their Sam Draper compensation (currently pick 21), but a future third-round pick is not appeasing the Suns, who would prefer something in this year’s draft to help match academy bids.
