A first look at the prolific Jacob McNicol who's started off the AAMI Talent League with a bang, racking up possessions and kicking goals for fun over the first three weeks of the season. McNicol plays the classic junior footy mid/fwd role for Glenelg, and a significant portion of their forward thrust comes from his classy left boot, directly kicking goals himself or setting up his teammates inside F50. He did sky a few kicks where a bit more composure would have been nice, but when you kick the ball 28 times the odds are you'll get a few wrong.

Unfortunately, the broadcast was quite choppy at times, so we probably missed a few of his moments.

Couldn't find stats on Leys. Did he get dropped? Armstrong was BoG by a fair way, it seems. Has most centre bounce attendances of anyone in the game. Butler a very quiet game.

By the sounds of it, assuming the changes go through, yes we will get and extra end of round 1st selection and no we won't get a 2nd first (it will cap at one pick)

Would love him to slip to Richmonds 2nd. Especially if we pull the trigger and bid on Walker with our first, gaining a 2nd pick around our early 2nd. He'd be a free hit. I see him as a Jaydn Short replacement but cleaner by foot and a bit more midfield potential.

Thoughts?

We told Tanner we are going to draft him and now he’s got some bone stress.

No way was Tanner BOG. The stats watchers gave him that title.
Cody Walker had 10 inside 50s and was regularly damaging partly because his opponent, Tanner, was running around completely loose. Tanner had great tackling intensity in tight, but he wasn’t running defensively or putting on pressure elsewhere. Hard to see that in highlights clips.

Tanner’s kicking was much better than his first game where it was just poor, but you can still see how inconsistent he is in the clip. He’s great finding the pill, but an issue I saw in both games is he doesn’t get it clear to runners on the outside enough, quite a few short handballs sometimes to teammates not in great positions. It’s a vision thing as much as a skill thing. His clearances are not as damaging as the top class mids.

As I’ve said before he’s definitely got talent, you don’t get 30 plus without it. He improved from his first game and substantially from last year. But keeping it real discussing his deficiencies that you see more clearly watching the actual games.

Was just his second game, hoping his improvement continues.

He said BOG for Bushrangers, I don't see how you could argue with that

A big day for draft watchers with plenty of games on today across Coates & SANFL. WAFL Colts begin this weekend as well.
