Week after, Bombers / Dockers shaping poorly at this stage. Bombers, Carlton and Richmond might post some shockers as the year gets on.
Still think you stay above 25k for that one.

I reckon Sunday will be lucky to be above 16.7k it got last year.
There was a Hawthorn GWS game that drew 14k at the G on Mothers Day a few years back.

I don’t know. It might be sub 20,000. The Bomber fans didn’t turn up last weekend after ANZAC Day. Effort has gone again. Only so much they can watch. Depends on weather I think. Sunny day it might be ok.

Ditto Mothers Day. I reckon it struggles to get to 20,000 too.

I know it’s Mother’s Day but I’m pretty optimistic Dees v Eagles can draw 20,000 plus at Marvel. The Dees drew 16,500 to the same fixture this time last year and that was the absolute floor for Dees crowd.

Melbourne are probably the most entertaining side in the league and crowds have been strong all year.

It feels like there hasn’t been a bad crowd in a long time. They’re all about expectations or higher. After the pessimism of the first round crowds have been great.

We’ve been blessed with weather in Melbourne - maybe 1 game affected by rain?

Even last week, 3 night games across May and you could have gone in a T-shirt. That’s pretty rare in my time following footy.

Melbourne fans I reckon will push this past 20,000+. They are playing great footy, there is real engagement with their supporters and people will schedule their Mother Day event as an early breakfast or evening get-together to accommodate this game. Go well Dees! Really making strides in my opinion. If only the Bombers could learn something off them... sigh

Plus free/cheaper public transport costs and cuts to food prices. It means a lot of people would be spending $20 less than what they did same time last year. Maybe even $40 or $60 if they attend multiple games in that period.

Whether it makes a massive difference in attracting more spectators, it has an impact on the experience to those who will attend regardless. People like to feel as if they are getting good value, rather than always having big businesses squeezing every last dollar out of them.

Even though the crowds are UP this year, these are the initiatives required by the AFL to counter the burgeoning whinge culture among media, clubs and fans.

The only thing to end the whinging would be to make it free

But then people would still complain they miss out on their seats

Collingwood v West Coast (Pendles' likely record breaking game) appears to be well on track for a sell out. Ticketek is showing that every category is already sold out except for level 4.

To be fair anything less would be absolutely terrible.

Should be a Dusty 300 vibe. That day sits as probably my favourite moment at the footy (outside of 17 and 19 GF of course).

Anything under 90 would be very disappointing.

Crowd looks awesome in Perth tonight, especially for 6:10pm on a Thursday. Fremantle have always been a big club, but they have gone to another leel in the last few years since the move to Optus. Such a reliable big crowd for every home game now. Shows the value of well located, modern stadiums too

Edit: over 54k announced! Huge

Proper real footy club Freo. That crowd sounded/looks nuts. 70,000 seems a no brainer. Especially for ROI in having to make no structural changes.

54,140 for the Freo match vs Hawks - highest Home and Away match ever, and in fact the 2nd best crowd in history for their matches, with only the GF having a better attendance. Well done Freo!

Dogs' crowds have not been bad in the context of the long-term average of being a small club, but they haven't been great this year in the context of some monster crowds last year, and that all 4 of our home games were a tad below internal club expectations.

Only a couple thousand less per game - which doesn't seem like much - but it's still 7% ish below expectations. No different a double the crowd blockbuster being 5kish below expectations.

It beats last fortnight’s Anzac Day Len Hall game by 40 people to become Freo’s second highest non-derby home crowd.

Last night was the 8th instance this season of the highest ever crowd between the competing clubs:

Wow, surprised Hawthorn v Bulldogs has never pulled a bigger crowd than that in Victoria in 100 years of matches.

Also, the way this table is formatted makes it very difficult to read for those using the dark Bigfooty theme.

Only 4 MCG games in the last 20 years.
