It a dream draw for making finals.

The competition can be broken up into 4 tiers according to the premiership odds: we have 3 x Tier 4 and 1 x each of Tiers 1, 2 and 3 as double ups. Also, if you’re very unlikely to beat Tier 1 teams, you want to play them once and away- better to lose an away game than a home game. Of the other 4 Tier 1 Teams who we only play once (BL, GE, HW, GC) we only play 1 at home. So perfect.

A very gentle entry opening 4 rounds to work in a new gameplan, which should then carry some momentum to win some of the next trickier games.

No excuse not to make finals - real finals, after the wildcard, with that draw.

It's fair based on Port's 2025 (tanked) results. But I'm just so used to the AFL screwing us, I didn't expect it.

The vfl are soulless f***ing scabs, why don’t they want us to play the pies at home for once?!? Also dumb that they don’t want us to play the hawks at the G. Only positive is no tigers at home

Havnet played them here since the prison bars home showdown "deal"

dont expect them to play us here anytime soon, unless its a final.

We played them at Adelaide Oval in 2023. The year that deal started.

Since moving to Adelaide Oval, 2015 is the only time we've had a stand alone home game against Collingwood. We played them twice in 2017, 2021 and 2023. The 2021 home game was moved to Marvel due to COVID lockdowns (ie Collingwood couldn't travel to SA).

I see 9 wins like in 2025. Missing out on the top 10.

This is insanely defeatist to me.

How can we have gotten rid of Hinkley after the binfire that was the 2025 season, gotten a much easier draw, and win the same amount of games? Do you think we've gotten worse from 2025?

Locks should be North x2, Essendon x2, West Coast x2, Richmond, Carlton, Melbourne so that gets you to 9 already.

Saints, swans, dogs, freo, giants at home should be winning 3-4 of those.

Saints and swans away plus the showdowns would be hoping to get a couple of wins there too.

Missing finals with a run like that would be catastrophic

Even under Hinkley we have always had a great record of beating the bottom sides.
Winning only 9 games next year would be a total disaster, I cant see it.

When you look the draw is really strange, normally you always have the odd hard game or easy game in a group of 5 matches.
We start with 5 easy games then the next group of 5 are all pretty hard.
I’d expect at least one hard game in the first 5 and one easy game in the next 5 minimum.

Amazing start to the year, but I still reckon we're looking at an 11-12 win year even after a 5-0 start. Still tough, especially given we should lose the next 5 after that start really. Think it probably eases my fears we'll have a huge crash. However if we get off to a bad start, it could become a disasterous year very quickly.

No McEntee. No Port.

Fixture difficulty (based on double-ups): 2nd-easiest

Pros: Wow, so many. The upside of finishing 13th on the ladder is being part of the bottom-six group for the next year’s fixture. And so a year after copping the game’s second-hardest draw, the Power will enjoy the second-easiest. The only 2025 finalist they play twice? Cross-town rivals Adelaide. Plus, they play fellow 2025 bottom-six finishers Essendon, North Melbourne and West Coast twice each. The cherry on top is their first four games: North Melbourne (away), Essendon (home), West Coast (home) and Richmond (away). It’s a huge opportunity to build momentum and positivity amongst the fanbase entering new coach Josh Carr’s first season.

Cons: The Power play three Friday night games in a row between Rounds 8 and 10 … but they’re their only prime time games scheduled so far. Also, just the two games at the MCG – albeit that’s better than the one they were handed in 2025.

I’m going for 12 now with that draw, I’m expecting Sydney to improve from last year so a double up with them might not be that great.
As you have posted before we have always found a way to beat the bottom sides even under Hinkley.
So at least that should continue.
