Surely not? Lamentable error of judgment, yes. Hanging offence - I hope not. Slipped through multiple sets of hands no doubt too. But I think it just shows a lack of understanding on the part of those who made the wrong calls to not pick it up.
We
Unbelievably disappointing from Sydney. An oversight and not mentioning the Jewish community is understandable. For someone at the club to actively remove the mention of the Jewish community is a disgr

It’s a sad state of affairs to be honest.

It was a lovely recognition of the event by the Swans, there were also a heap of the Jewish community in the rooms after the game, literally everywhere.

Sort of makes the effort put in by the club somewhat not worthwhile for a very small error, which should not be the case. Like missing a name for a thank you speech.

There is a war currently being waged by Israel, with USA versus Iran, you can understand the want to not highlight this, in the remembrance of the tragedy,
And the know all Healy who wrote a column for Murdoch's Australian newspaper about the issue was the first to stir this up.

Is this true? If so, that's exactly as it should be for a myriad of reasons.
Absolute Rubbish, yes this happened at a Jewish event but the effects were far more wide ranging than just the Jewish community.
Take for instance the Police officer shot in the eye, now unable to work , not Jewish , The hero of the massacre a Muslim, the lifeguards involved in treating the injured not Jewish, etc.
To not specify a community , shows inclustivity of ALL impacted by the terrorist act.
The Senator is looking for political mileage.

You should have read the post I was referring to, in particular the bolded, before commenting.

I was replying to a post that said the AFL had edited the speech and that the AFL had been referred to the Anti Semitism RC by senator Patterson.

I fully support the speech. I thought it was perfectly written and delivered and conveyed genuine support and care for all persons, races, religions and groups involved. I thought the whole tribute was very well done, extremely moving, heartfelt and emotional.

Absolute political grandstanding.

Also a shame some feel they have to own everything they’re involved in.

Yes, the wording could have been more specific, but only at the risk of excluding some other group or persons.

I thought Pridham made complete sense, showed some guts in standing by it and made Sen. Patterson look like a ClownAct (with Whateley’s help)

Why hasn't Carlton been referred to the Royal Commission after Captain Carlton leaving a Jewish party and going on a racist tirade? But I guess we all know the answer to this though.

Given Pridham's comments on SEN, I am not sure why the statement on the website reads like an apology. Oh well.

I found the news of that quite disconcerting and, noted how quickly it was faded into the mist

I still think this is being blown out of proportion and is based on a lack of understanding but it was definitely a mistake not to acknowledge the impact of the massacre on Jewish people specifically.

The Bondi Chanukkah massacre impacts the whole community and there were Jewish and non-Jewish victims. BUT the attack itself specifically targeted Australian Jews and was designed to terrorise the Australian Jewish community. The Australian Jewish community have been the targets of a rising wave of anti-semitism (likely especially due to Israel's war crimes and probable genocide in Gaza) which has progressed from verbal taunts and threats, to graffiti, to arson and other property damage, and now to a full-on massacre in broad daylight at Bondi beach. To ignore that this attack was directed at Jewish people is interpreted by the Jewish community as denying the fact that Jewish people in Australia ARE being singled out for hatred and terror (in a way that is different to the rest of the community). And at this incredibly stressful and difficult time the Jewish community needs the solidarity and support of the rest of the community (which is, I think, the whole point of what the club was trying to acknowledge and what makes it such a stupid stuff-up).

I think the large majority of people want to offer that support to the Jewish community and the it's only the people with political agendas they want to advance (on both sides of politics) that disrupt the messages of peace/love/unity.

Probably worth your while to listen to Pridham's interview unless you have already.
