Why? Cut off for MSD isn't here yet.
Could’ve got anyone we wanted as an SSP prior to round 1

Thredgold should’ve gone straight to the inactive list and had an extra long rehab and early start of mini preseason for next year

And then had no room for anyone else who showed something when matches started.

Thredgold is a kid whose development is critical on where we end up.

And because a few of you want to see how someone goes in the back end of the season you expect to stunt his development of getting perhaps 4-6 games into him to bring someone in.

Where would that leave his mindset over Summer if he was ready to play in the back end of the season and then potentially a VFL finals series.

You’d have the Club say to him sorry pal you’re fit now but just sit it out because we needed to trial someone else for a similar length of time? Great retention strategy.

Just let the medicos determine what’s best for Thredgold, which no doubt they are doing, rather than pontificating here about the fact we should just stunt the development of a talented young player so we get a pick at the MSD table.

Absolutely. If there's a chance that Thredgold can play some footy in the back half of the year, you'd take that every day. He is going to be an important player.

This was the game that had AFL clubs sit up and take notice as Noah McMenamin took a stack of intercept marks and put himself on the radar for the mid season draft for teams that need to bolster their tall defender stocks. McMenamin will reportedly line up for Collingwood's VFL team this weekend to give the Pies and others a look at how he goes stepping up to a higher level.

Guess it comes down to who'd have been better, Becker, or whomever we chose (or would chose if we don't get an LTI).

I'd be erring on the side of Nostras logic here, getting someone in for an extra 6 months, and you never know if an injury were to crop up in the first 6 months that would allow an MSD pick anyway.

Thankfully, other than Archer (who was effectievly replaced by Blamires) and Thredgold, we've been fortunate in not getting any long injuries. Had we got a couple of early injuries post SSP, then not putting Thredgold onto the LTI earlier would have left us vulernable.

Hindsight and all

IMO coming to a mutual arrangement with Fisher for him to wind things up now would be to the benefit of both parties.

Come together work out a figure and we all move on.

We tried to wide up the Fisher fiasco last season and those holding the purse strings said no.
I hope this time around they reconsider. We will ask again.
Hopefully we're getting sharper at spotting uncommitted types.

Fair play to Collingwood, they spotted Stephenson as a less than invested (except at TAB) player 2 years off a GF and Rising Star and cashed out using our bank account.

Would have been a sound investment to fire him into orbit and take a rookie on minimum wage.

We're incapable at this stage, but, then again, we're not exactly inner circle. He may just be the motivational tool of all motivational tools.

Watching training, he's just running laps. He's not playing a game for us this year unless we have an injury crisis. Even then, we'd need to down to 23 fit players.

Sometimes you've just got to say this bloke is part of the problem not the solution and get rid of it.

Funny thing re Fishers, we didn't enquire about his professionalism or lack there of.
Apparently Carlton would have told us, but as we didn't ask, they felt it not necessary to divulge any pertinent information.
Now that is a strike against the responsible person at North
But yeah IDRGAF, we seem to be heading in the right direction and as long as we learn from our mistakes.

We got Fishers and pick 17 for 21 and 25, so yeah ouch. Not sure what the Blews did with the picks. Goadness me was who we selected with 17 which became 20. I think anyways
