Paris nice

The 154-man peloton begin Paris-Nice 2026 under cloudy skies in Achères, but the sun rapidly appears to accompany the riders in this first stage of the 84th edition of the Race to the Sun (170.9km to Carrières-sous-Poissy). Kelland O’Brien (Jayco AlUla) doesn’t get to enjoy the favourable weather conditions as he abandons as soon as the race begins.

Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 1 ITT starts tonight.

looks like an easy Filippo Ganna win.

GC Prediction - Isaac Del Toro
Main threat - Primoz Roglic

Outsiders - Jorgenson, JChristen, Pellizzari & Tiberi

I think IDT will struggle to get the time back from the ITT against Roglic compared to Remco tbh.

Rogla to win comfortably.

Roglic does have a good team around him, not sure what sort of form he is in.
think the course suits Del Toro more, although I do expect him to lose time in the TT.
I think Roglic might lack the punch for the rest of the race. should be interesting I would love Roglic to win make it more exciting.

If there was ever a Ganna GC year for Tirreno, it would be this year. No high mountains, mostly rolling hills, a few sprint days.

Did anyone think Hatherley had a ITT like that in him?
Can see that he won the South African champs last year and he had a few promising mountain stages earlier last year, but this is surely his most promising result to date.

Van Der Poel has to be favorite for tonight's stage.

Can't rule out Del Toro, Roglic & Ganna though.
Gonna be too hard for Ganna. Most seem to think it's a GC day today.

Hatherly, IDT, Roglic, Arensman, Tiberi and Jorgenson the most likely

Gravel climb though? you think it's going to be too hard for MVDP to win?
He took it pretty easy in the TT yesterday, would think this is the stage he can win.
you probably right about Ganna though.

Probably not for MvdP if he gets a gap but the last km or so isn't gravel. If Roglic and/or IDT are with him by the time the gravel is done I'd expect one of them to take it out

Like wise will be very hard for Vingegaard now to beat Ayuso.
course is not tough enough for Jonas, tomorrow and stage 7 could be dangerous, given the uphill finishes & you can never rule out a champion like Jonas.
but the fact that Lidl-Trek outperformed Visma in the TTT puts Juan in the boxseat will have to cover off Onley & Vauguelin though so a little tricky, Ineos seem back in the big way winning the TT both good signings.

Jonas now leads Paris-Nice
by a fair margin, dropped Martinez on the final climb, huge time gaps between Dani Martinez 2nd & 3rd.
treacherous conditions with race-favorite Ayuso crashing out, I hope he is okay & it's doesn't derail his whole season that looked bad.

Vauquelin caught behind the race all day with echelons
Onley crashed and later had a mechnical couldn't get back to the front group.

Hard to judge PN, Martinez looked really poor, especially when VanDijke rode back to him after Jonas attacked but the ease that he rode away from them in those conditions and whatever the hell he was wearing was very impressive.

Dectathlon lead outs have been next level this year, the difference Renshaw has made to this team is incredible. Their second choice sprinter is beating everybody so far this year. Easily Milan's dumbest sprint of all time though and he wasn't beaten by a heap.

I don't think Martinez was ever going to be able to keep up with Vingegaard once he attacked.
Red Bull had ridden so hard all day for him.

Never allowed the chasers and the other GC contenders back in.
