Two players we paid massively overs for and one was a delist free agent lol. Yet we had been linked to Tom Lynch, Jeremy Cameron, Patrick Dangerfield, Ben King, Bailey Smith and so on

Massively overs is cartoonish hyperbole. Referring to players we were never actually in the race for as being "linked to" to try and make a point is just silly

Regarding the price we paid for Houston and schultz, Craig kelly said a while back that they now feel that we were perhaps to cavalier in handing over our first rounds picks. We should perhaps been more vigilant with how we traded.

In hindsight, the Schultz trade was a bit more expensive than we would have liked. Don't get me wrong , schultz is a nice player to have, but not at the price we ended up paying for him. Fremantle were able to flip that pick into Murphy reid.

King, Humphrey & Butters are currently still at their club. No other club has acquired them, as yet.

Oliver & JUH were always going interstate. Smith was always going to the Cats.

Silvalgni? Would you be happy paying him the big $ the Saints are paying? I wouldn't.

You know why we get linked. Click, click, clickety click.

And good on us if we are asking the question of every available player we think can improve us.

Some will come off, some won't. We generally know why it hasn't been successful. The other clubs also need to be satisfied with the trade. If we don't have what they want for the trade to be successful , it is what it is. And we all know we haven't had any high draft picks to trade.

So onto the next one.

It's the player managers. We would talk to heaps of them and in turn they leak it to the media to garner interest.

Silvagni was an injury risk and for a short period of time he delivered as a back. Carlton and followers can over value their own. The financial price, no way was that a good move. The market was too hot. Silvagni better tan May. But crap terms even as a free agent.
Good Oliver yes. He was never interested in the Pies and maybe not Victoria. He does stuff very well. But his brain fades are bad. He has moments of low team and footy IQ. And helicopters is not something I welcome.
For a deal it must be win-win. Oliver and Silvagni were never close.
Petracca and Oliver have left a massive hole at Melbourne. A thought with no clear answer.

Oliver, absolutely. That’s a hindsight move though as a lot of people thought he wouldn’t find this form again. Who knows if his form would be this good playing for a big Vic club.

Silvagni I’m glad we steered clear of in the end. He’s sucking as a defender this year with a 50% loss rate. At the moment not worth the money or additional year he was seeking.

It'll continue. We'll chase recruits - it'll get heaps of press because we're the biggest profile club and we'll miss a lot because other clubs offer things we can't or choose not to offer - bigger contracts - beach and fishing - warm climate - out of the footy bubble - home state and family, etc ... but we'll also continue to get some because we can also offer things that some clubs can't.

The misses that hurt the most was not landing one of Lynch at the end of 18 or Cameron at the end of 20.

Lynch 63 goals in Collingwood colours in 2019 likely makes us Premiers. Lynch 63 goals in 2022 when we fell 2pts short of making a GF. The sliding doors moment being that Buckley would have been still coaching us in 2022 if that 2019 Premiership unfolded.

Miss on Lynch then Cameron and his 65 2022 goals might have made us back to back Premiers in 22 and 23. 88 goals last season when we make a Prelim without him.

Little wonder our search for an elite key foward continues.
