Yeah I think so, $750k isn't in the high end these days. I'm not sure he has the commitment but I suppose we'll find out where the club rates him.
It’s looking more likely each week that Lewis will be staying at Hawthorn.

I expect our full attention to then turn to Walter. If we’re desperate you’d think we offer way more than that.

Not sure he’s still favoured over Read and Jamarra, when both are fit, and doubt trade capital will be an issue tbh.

I think it'l be less about the money and more about if he thinks he can find a spot in that team. If not, then he'll leave money or not.

I meant putting forward a more attractive offer than the other Vic clubs.
Pulling him out of the Suns won’t be an issue, just convincing him that we are the club if he wants more senior footy.

Going to be interesting when JUH is back from Injury. I can’t see 3 of King, Walter and JUH playing together. They aren’t exactly Cameron types.
Ethan Read too, who was a preferred option with his versatility

Jeez, just went through his stats and he's not even touching the ball in the VFL. I would have expected someone with Walters ability to dominate

If we get him let’s pray he has a hogan form turnaround. His stats are improving atleast.
2024: 17 matches for 11 goals
2025: 15 matches for 18 goals
2026: 4 matches for 12 goals

This has been reported by Fox Footy
The Suns have reportedly offered Walter a deal worth more than $750,000 per season, with a total value of at least $1.5 million. The contract could be relatively short (around two years) or longer if Walter prefers more security. Several rival clubs are believed to be interested, including Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong and Adelaide. It appears the PCL injury to Read may inadvertently help the Suns' retention chances by giving Walter a sustained run in the AFL side"

$750k is equivalent to what we paid McStay annually as a FA, adjusted for increase in cap size since then.

The issue is more his trade price. We should give them what they gave us for Noble.
They gave us bugger all for Witts as well. Been their first ruck & was the skipper as well.

I expect we would do that via our 1st pick of the draft. I also wouldn’t limit our pro scouting to those two and would be targeting a Hill/ WHE type value trade for a young mid on the fringe elsewhere. I like O’Driscoll, but others like Rogers, Marshall, E Hewett and Gothard (less so on the fringe than the others) appeal to me.

This one will be polarising, but I’d be into Tsatas as well. He’s not yet near the point of justifying his lofty draft status he finds it though and I think Scott did him dirty.
I agree on Tsatas, can't recall his disposal accuracy but he's an inside mid and would greatly be influenced by Neal. What better way to improve than by an A grade mid, teaching him the secrets to their elitism. Old heads have better insight.
I think, we have nothing to lose and a gun to gain. Isn't Tsatas good mates with Nick?

Agree on E Hewett. Has not really broken out as such but the few times I have watched him, he appears pretty classy.

Seems to be having an injury interrupted year so will fly under the radar.

He could be a sneaky good get.

I like Tsatas. I think his kicking will end up competent - and he can move in traffic.

They won't let him go - they really need him - as good as Gunston in with any space - if it's a pressure game where you've got to kick to contest a lot - he's a liability in that situation - they need Lewis's contest.

Walter has shown absolutely nothing that suggests he will become a gun forward to me.
Happy to have him on 850k for 3 years to see though.
You just wouldn’t lock in for any longer on what he shown.
If someone wants to give him a million a year over 5 years then I hope it’s not us.

He will go when King re-signs.

Morris thinks Collingwood are front of queue for Walter, if he goes.
In Bailey Williams free agent
In Lachie Neale free agent
In Jed Walter second rounder and steak knives

In top 10 pick gun midfielder

Hello 2027

We aren’t going to land anyone of note
King, Butters, Humphries
We can’t get in front of any of these guys because the reality is ..we aren’t attractive when you look at it from the outside in.
Nobody is taking us seriously when you see the demographic of our list and so many unknown quantities yet on the list as replacements

Keep our powder dry and hit the draft and maybe find a value player of two via trade
